Some Good & Bad News

Today I was visited by my Neighbourhood Manager and External Services Supervisor from Sutton Housing Partnership (London Borough of Sutton Council Housing Department), who wanted to talk to me about the garden and refuse collection problem.

They have said that they wanted me to agree to a deal.

The deal reached was:

Gardening will cease on a smaller section of the garden, in case of accidental damage, and in return, round the front on the green right outside my property, a large raised bed will be created for me to plant in instead.

Also, I will be provided with a plants list to order from (free of charge) and they will also provide me with the compost needed to fill it up.

I will be e-mailed an estate map to highlight and photos of similar projects carried out on other estates they own.

I will be posted a list and once work has been completed, they wish to have before and after photos and an article published in their magazine posted to all Borough Council tenants and leaseholders.

This section will continue to be tended to.

Gardening will cease here

Currently, there are no plans to relocate the hanging baskets. They should not cause any problems.

A raised bed will be built here.

It seems a fair offer are you happy with it?

That sounds a very fair and reasonable offer to me Alex, it seems they like the idea of you continuing with your gardening and are compensating you for what you lost, by posting in the magazine they possibly think it might encourage others and therefore inprove the look of the estate for all........

That sounds like an excellent, fair idea Alex. I wish our council were as accommodating as yours. You're very lucky.

It does sound good, and I have taken up the offer.

The Supervisor for External Services said to e-mail her, and then she will come down and the plans can be sorted out.

She came round earlier with the estate map and shrub list.

So long as you are happy Alex - that's what counts.
