Hi Kate, yes, think it's a french lavender. I keep on deadheading the violas and they seem to get better and better.

My Anisdontea El Rayo lasts about 3 years, but I always start a replacement cutting each year.

Mine in the South is huge after 17+ years of growth, had to cut it back somewhat.

Kate,
Thanks! Yes, Epiphyllums have very interesting bright-colored flowers.

Shirley tulip,
It’s native to the tropics, but does very well in San Diego’s very mild subtropical climate.

Thanks Kate. It has a lot more buds. Two more just bloomed yesterday.

Kate,
It will have to recover from last December’s heatwave. It dried out too much during the heatwave. If it had been watered the leaves and small branches would have burned and died in that heatwave. 😞
I do have a Mauritius variety lychee that’s flowering right now. It looks like it may set some fruit. My longan, (which I love even more than lychee) which is closely related to lychee, has tons of flowers. It should produce a lot of fruit this year.

Cottagekaren,
It will produce fruit one day. It flowered and had little fruit last year, but we had the coolest spring in over 50 years in San Diego and throughout most of California. And all the fruit dropped.

Thanks Karen, about the long Root, Ive planted it in a deep pot, surrounded by 4 Parsnips.

I’ e sprayed them with garlic today Kate. Will see how successful that turns out to be!

They are pretty tough aren’t they? I had one in Scotland and it grew well and flowered, even produced a load of tiny olives. But a very severe winter knocked it back so badly that it was no longer attractive.

Yes, the industrial estate where I've seen them grow is about 5 miles from this village, but they are really very common around here.

Kate, it is usually more of a peach colour, perhaps age has something to do with it!

Thanks Kate, even if the foliage has ben nibbled already!

Kate, I think I should cut them and put them in the house as the perfume is so strong. You will love yours ... :o)

Kate, I tried that after you wrote about the wire wool scrubby thingies! Clearly my slugs and snails are not fazed by it at all ... they have slithered over it, up the stems of the Sunflowers and I am now left with about three plants ...
:o(

Looks a very pretty one, Shirley. Lovely form to it, plus, what a bonus it thrives on neglect!!!!
Colour is eye-catching.

Gorgeous close up, Shirley.

Striking hot pink! I agree, the scent is really lovely, Shirley. Mine are almost open.

Just gorgeous! I took mine put last year, with much reticence sadly. They were all so badly nibbled.
A patient uses stainless steel scourers. Unravels them and puts them around the most affected plants - works wonders. They don't like having to cross over them.

Missed this one, Shirley. Lovely flowers at an equally lovely price!
Hope your planted ones flourish!

I removed all our Hostas, last year, Karen..with much reticence.
They were all being nibbled beyond recognition.
They are such lovely plants too.

I was going to say the same thing, will it bear you some fruit soon, Andy?
Or will it take time to recover?

It's just beautiful, Andy.
