I was wondering what this is, (in the local park) I thought it was elderberry at first, but they are much smaller berries. These are like small grapes. Thankyou.

It's a Mahonia, Mazziestar.

One species funnily enough is called the Oregon Grape (Mahonia aquifolium) but this one is similar in its fruit too. All are actually edible, hence the other species being called Oregon Grape. Come to think of it, their near relatives (Berberis) all have edible fruit too. Barberry jam is supposed to be very nice!

When Mahonia berries ripen, the birds in my garden seem to love them. Blackbird, starlings and sparrows always on them.

They eat all ours too, very rapidly
