Dreaming of a terrace....

I’ve been messaging Tetra after viewing her photos of the terrace they have in their garden. It is a dream of mine to be able to develop the back of our property one day (it’s the expense that stops the dream at the moment)…..

This is the back of our property (the shop is at ground level to the right of what you see on the photo)…

Below photo(s) show the window I’d like to take out, replace with french doors and then a terrace (porch I would call it) with stairs going down to ground level. (the window with the grill is part of the shop stockroom)

I’m still getting photos sideways!!!! Grrrr….sorry! I keep forgetting to rotate them in my Picasa before browsing for them and putting them on here. Is there any hope for me, I ask you…lol

I know the rear of the property isn’t a pretty sight….there is concrete butting up against the brickwork and it isn’t in very good condition. It has been recommended to us that the concrete slabs be lifted from various areas of the garden space and relocated on top of this concrete. If this were done then we would be able to dig over the rest of the garden space (and even better, get access to the bramble/ivy roots!!)….and then….woo hoo…..we would have a workable space to enrich the soil and landscape!

Here is a photo showing you all the slabs that are scattered throughout the present garden space….(enough for a decent sized patio)…not all the slabs are visible in this photo…there are more!

Since the above photo was taken we have cleared some of the ivy alongside the concrete fencing and also drastically pruned the apple tree (centre of photo)…otherwise we’re still pulling/digging brambles! I tell myself…one day this WILL be planted up and be pleasing to my eye.

There's nothing like looking ahead. I wish I could do it instead of telling others lol.
French doors would be nice. I have them and I love them. I had them put instead of my back door.

At the moment the only entry to the garden from our residence is via a single door (hidden in the above photo), on the extension built with the lighter brick.
All our living space is on the upper floor and where I'd like the french doors and terrace would be mid-way (at the window level) of our inside staircase. Would provide a nice place to sit without going into the garden space but also give good access directly to the garden via a staircase.

Yes...I know I'm dreaming....but I'm soooooo good at that! lol
