Flower Festival

I took a few photos yesterday when I attended the Flower Festival at our local Parish Church. They celebrate their 400th Church Anniversary in 2010.

There is a lot of history which is a long read if you’d like to read it. It’s a beautiful place of worship (apologies for picture quality….I don’t have a deluxe camera to take perfect photos like other on GoY).

Here’s a link: http://prescotchurch.merseyworld.com/betty%20brown%20history%20on%20the%20church.htm

A lovely idea….memorial roses placed in vials on a stand (chose this rose in memory of my dear sister)

Celtic Cross to represent the roots of Christianity in England

Viewing the choir display, looking towards the chancel

One of two baptismal fonts

Representing Shakespeare (purported to have performed in Prescot)

Pulpit

Chancel area and side choir stalls

Chancel (close up)

Lectern

Children’s corner (couldn’t resist…cute table/chairs)

Choir display (NB bell pull)

Church Banner honouring Mary (patron saint of the Parish Church)

W.lass, your photos are lovely and your church has made a really good job of the decorations and exhibits and everything. It looks a really nice place.
Thank you for sharing it with us.

Beautiful church but the headless chorister is a bit scary! lol ;)

Didn't think about that, Karen...well spotted! lol But then if you could meet some of the kids in the choir (and some of the adults too....our son included) on their annual choir holiday to Llandudno....they do run around like headless chickens so maybe it's not as inappropriate as first appears...lol

Ha! There's not much you can tell me about choir holidays WLass! I had a good few of those in my youth and I could probably write a book....now there's an idea!!

Too funny, Karen. I've never accompanied our son on his choir hols but I've seen the photos (mostly corny ones...lol...and heard the tales). He's moved to Canada now and really misses all the folk/activities at the church here. He's a ham at the best of times.

Yeah...write a book, Karen. Maybe 'Singing all the Way' or ???? (needs a humorous title really).

Pleased you enjoyed the blog, Mavis.

lol! Thanks Mavis, perhaps you should write it after all, you have the title! :)

I feel a connection here with midsomer murders, not sure why? I have been on many school journeys and wanted to commit murder at four in the morning when the 'angels' are still awake !!! Any singing was done on the arduous coach journey. Lol
