Driven in from the garden by the rain I decided it was as good a time as any to do a spot of baking. My OH is rather partial to Coffee Cake…So the kettle is on..Now anyone for a slice?

I wouldn't be so presumptuous Marjorie ;0

Bill; Wipe your chin lol!

Gralew; Coming up...tea of coffee with yours ?

22 Feb, 2015

whoa...if only I hadn't give up cake for lent! what a mad idea!

22 Feb, 2015

If I'd known you had made such a big cake ,we might have made a detour to yours, after our Sunday lunch, for afternoon tea,Julia..but then again, there were five of us :o)
I guess that wouldn't have left much for you and Richard ! Lol. It looks lovely, and I might make one myself this week..it's an age since I did..I do love your new Avatar of Freya and Eliza..no mistaking them for sisters,is there? ..two lovely little girls xx

Karen; Given up cake for Lent? Whatever were you thinking of girl lol?!

Sandra, you would have been most welcome and as the cake is supposed to be big enough for 8 people, there might just have been enough...Glad you like the new Avatar...Thank you, yes, they are very much alike except for their colouring, Freya has honey highlights in her brown hair and lovely brown eyes, just like her mum...whereas Eliza has fair hair (what there is of it!) and blue eyes like her daddy.

I know!! And yesterday we took friends to Broughty Ferry and we all had a Fudge Doughnut, and I completely forgot about my fast! Lol...never mind. I started again today. When we have friends staying everything goes to pot!

Thanks Julia,we would have managed with smaller slices,so you had some left for tomorrow...just to be polite, you understand :o) I presume you use a 6/6/6/3 ounces ingredients in two tins? sorry,I don't do metric.! I think this is the recipe I use, with variations of flavourings..
How nice each parent has a look a like daughter ..:o)

My son is in the air right now on his way to Heathrow, and then will be driving to Oxford University (getting his masters on game theory) perhaps I can send him over to pick up a piece for me?

22 Feb, 2015

Yes please. I love coffee cake but don't often make it as I eat too much of it. I made chewy chocolate cookies yesterday and had to send them home with the grandchildren - I like them too much too :)

22 Feb, 2015

I think your oven is going to go into meltdown fulfilling all these requests:)

22 Feb, 2015

I like coffe cake too ! It looks very nice ... :o)

22 Feb, 2015

I am next in the queue please behind Hywel (who is only allowed a small slice in case there isn't any left for me!!!)

22 Feb, 2015

lol ... ok then :D

What is ' Game Theory' ? Hunting Pheasants ?

23 Feb, 2015

No, game theory, as far as my understanding of it is, involves mathematical models of decision making. There was a motion picture, " A Beautiful Mind" about John Nash who recieved the Nobel Prize in economics for his landmark work on the mathematics of game theory. I will send you a PM with regards to my son.

23 Feb, 2015

P.S I will also send you a PM about John Nash.

23 Feb, 2015

I'll take a slice or two, please!

23 Feb, 2015

Always a good pass time for a rainy day :-), looks yummy,I m banned from making any now both daughters have left home OH's no will power lol.
Sounds like a very clever son Loosestrife :-)

23 Feb, 2015

Bloomer; Basically, yes that's it, with a couple of twiddly bits...hope the girls think so as they grow up, perhaps looking like Dad won't be too welcome lol!

Loosestrife; I'll save him a piece :) You must be very proud of hi...perhaps he deserves two slices.

Gee; I made Chocolate cake last week and my son pinched it to take to work to butter up his colleagues lol! Freya ans I often make Chewy Choc Cookies and she usually takes them home too.

Hywel and Wildrose; so that's two more slices...perhaps I'd better get baking again!

Bathgate; One slice each only...don't be greedy lol!

Simbad; A good reason for a coffee morning perhaps?

23 Feb, 2015

It looks so good. Too bad we are just so far:-)

23 Feb, 2015

Don't think it would travel well either Klahanie..sorry.

23 Feb, 2015

Coffee please, white no sugar....:-)

24 Feb, 2015

Your wish is my command Gralew :) Better hurry though, the cake has nearly all gone!

24 Feb, 2015

Crumbs. Its hard enough to understand local authority decision making, without having to make a mathematical decision about it.
Glad I stuck to gardening. At least we can all make decisions and follow them through to success !

25 Feb, 2015

I am on a catchup and only just seen this delicious cake , I know its all gone now but will you please put me on your list next time you bake one;0) The chewy choc brownies sound yummy too, would love the recipe ! xx
