all shook up!

Quick note to say even though the Virginia earthquake (5.9) was felt up and down the East Coast of the US, apparently I didn’t feel a thing, and neither did the critters. Ole Blue was with me all afternoon, slept thru it I guess. So much for the animal early warning system.

For those of you who know the East Coast, the quake was felt from Georgia up to Canada. quite a shake for the east coast.

take care.

Hopefully, all can say the same. Didn't feel a thing.
But, must have had a lot of damage to property but hopefully again, no serious injuries to anyone.

Thank goodness you weren't affected. We only have minor quakes here in the UK, so we are very lucky.

Can't imagine the terror or devastation of a quake. Having seen Japan & New Zealand on the news, I pray I never have to.

Take care Rusty.

Glad you're safe my friend, Ole Blue takes it all in his stride...still at Mom's side...:)))
have been keeping up with the news...xx

Glad that all is well Rusty! Take care now. I read in the news here that quote: 'President Barack Obama was not at the White House and did not feel the quake as he was playing golf some 500 miles (800 kilometers) away in tranquil Martha's Vineyard off the coast of Massachusetts' !!

That is lucky Rusty. Keep safe!

the worst seems to have been around Charlettsville, Virginia. For those who would like to know that is about 10 miles from Thomas Jefferson's home Monticello. I didn't hear anything about damage there. The morning paper showed some grocery store in the area with lots of products on the aisle floor. If that is all the damage we were lucky.

Buildings here are not built to withstand serious earthquakes as those in California and Japan. I'm not sure we could 'take' a REAL shaker.

I was thinking, people evacuated their buildings and stood around outside near it. Shoot, if it was going to fall, that would be the worst place to be standing.

Thank everyone for their good wishes. And we were lucky, this time.

Best wishes and stay safe Rusty:)

The quake made the news here. Glad to see yo didn't have tumbling watering can issues like GOYer lilcrawford lol.

thank all of you for your good wishes. Obama might not have felt the earthquake but if Irene is on the track predicted this evening, he's going to have to cut short his vacation. Martha's Vineyard is too close to the ocean for the secret service to let him tough it out. storm surges are predicted about 10 feet. If Irene gets stronger, obviously higher storm surges.

I'm watching the progress of Irene closely as I am due to fly to Florida in the next few days - its going to be bumpy.

Glad all is well with you rusty! Not seen a news bulletin today as I am fed up with all the doom and gloom! Poor Mr President if he has to cut his trip short! There seems to be a lot of that about!

Irene seems headed further away from us. we might not even get rain, still too early to tell. Saturday evening and all day Sunday will tell the tale.

Poor president having to cut short his vacation, he should have to ride it out and see how that goes I guess. Some people lose everything in a hurricane, not just their vacation. He's not hurting, that much is certain.

Much to do today and time to get started! everyone have a great day/evening.
