Photograph please - or more info, such as is it a shrub or perennial, precisely how big and what shape are the flowers, how big and what shape are the leaves, how long have you had it, etc.

It's occurred to me that if you have this plant under cover or indoors rather than outside currently, what fits that description is a Dahlia - Bishop of Llandaff, but at 1 metre, that seems excessively tall for this time of year.
