I've never grown any evergreen ones, but I do like the colour of the flowers on Kniphofia rooperi, which is evergreen.

thanks Bamboo. Yes, I have been looking for these in garden centre but with no luck so far. Hopefully somebody on this site will have them and be able to tell me all about them.

I bought a lemon coloured hot poker last year - always avoided them because not into red/orange colours. Very pleased with the plant which is v low maintenance, and the birds loved it when it seeded :-)

Last year I bought some called "percies pride" they,re a very pale green colour, but don,t start flowering until roundabout the end of september, and go on till the frost gets them.
