Is this clematis wilt? I've had three go like this now. It looks healthy one day and almost over two days the stems have been drain and left woody.
I planted one in pot instead and the top leaves are wilting.

After you've thoroughly watered it try putting something to shade the roots - an old paving slab or something.

If they are dying from the top down then it is not Wilt. That makes them die from the bottom upwards. Lack of water, overheated roots, damage to the stems at the base could all cause them to go like that.
