My Cytisus - Roter Favorit - has appeared to die off at the end of its stems and the stems have taken on a yellowish tinge rather than the strong green from last month. It did get a bit dry a couple of weeks ago and I was worried that it would die. However, when I checked the stems they still seem to be green inside and alive. Is this usual for this plant at this time of the year?

No its not, the stems should remain green - this will be a result of drought. With any luck, it will recover, given time and enough water.
