earlier this week I noticed some plants covered in a white substance which would not hose off. Today in the same area there appears to be an infestation of what I don't know but it's a brown writhing mass of insects so small that I can't see what they are. It looks as though its spreading fast. Can anyone identify it and give advice.

thank you bulbaholic - just looked at area and after spraying with insect repellent all seems "calm".

Could be baby spiders.
