I want to replant my blue glazed pots with nice fresh plants for the Spring.

Any ideas welcome .

My post seems to have wandered off into the ether!
The obvious suggestion was bulbs, daffs, crocus, tulips, etc etc - which now you would have to buy growing in pots which may work out expensive.

What about hellebores?
How big are the pots and how many? Do you have anything planted in them already that you have to take account of? I planted loads of pots with Hostas last spring and then added bulbs in Autumn - still not all year interest in the pots but the spring bulbs are slowly coming through.

Yes thanks Urbanite bulbs would be perfect but yes expensive unless only using as a filler.

I have 6 small pots the smallest size if you are buying a matching set of 3.

And the one of the biggest in the set of 3 .

Yes helebores would be great .

I am not keen on hostas.

Thinking on types of white plants as they are all in front of my blue front door.

In Autumn I shall buy the spring bulbs then and replant.

Same as front raised bed gooding to fill it with snowdrops and fir summer white pelargoiniums.

Hi Kath, how about some Primula pol

Hi Kath, how about some Primula polyanthus, if you like them without the yellow eyes, go for Cowichan series cultivars, they have bronze flushed foliage, nd flowers in velvety, yellow, blue, red, maroon, or purple, or if you prefer the yellow eyes, go for the Crescendo series, with flowers up to 2" across, available in a number of seperate ranges classified by colour; 'Giant Fruelo' produces a very wide colour range of short stemmed flowers in white, red, scarlet, orange, pink, or blue, some with contrasting 'eyes', there are lots to choose from, Derek.

If it's white you're after...I have some white violas in my planters at the back door. They kept flowering in deep shade all winter! And white crocus too. There are some nice small baby conifers to contrast, and ivies too. There is the white periwinkle as well of course, and white heathers. How about a white variegated euonymus. Dobbies have them I think. show us when you've finished Kath! :)

My point was not that you might want hostas but that pots needs as much planning as any other part of the garden to get year round interest. And it's almost inevitable that you will be planting up at the wrong time for something. You might want to think about the smaller pots as being pot covers and just dropping in pots of in-season plants for this year until you have your whole year's worth.
I think I'd look to build the larger pot around a small shrub or a strong architectural perennial.

Thanks Kath. I was scared I might have arthritis, so relieved. Had x-Rays and bloods done, and nothing was wrong, so should be better in time.
