This is the weed

Hi Connor, this is Ground Elder (aka Bishop Weed) and it is very persistent. It has underground stolons and will run everywhere. It can be dug out eventually but from the look of your picture this is going to be difficult without moving a lot of edging material etc. I know that Mum doesn't like chemicals, neither do I, but this is a case where something like Roundup comes into its own. Spray it onto the foliage and it will kill the weed quite quickly.

i'm having to have adaptations to my house soon and am hoping they mess up that bit? of the garden, that much, that they have to sort that bit out for me...It's only a small teraced with a small garden...:( or....:) not sure.

If that area is going to be messed up anyway, April, then get Connor in there now with a garden fork to dig, dig, dig to remove as much root as possible.

thanks, he'll hopefully take your advice, seems a lot easier when someone else suggests it, if i'd have asked i think i may have been moaned at...not quite sure yet if connor knows how hard actual gardening is ....yet :)
mg is bulbaholic your other half or was is just a turn of phrase, only rather not go down the same lane as the dock leaves question. It got far too confusing for me, i ended up not knowing who had what to whom...but it was fun trying to work it out. Both Connor and I have laughed quite a lot at some of the comments.
I also wasn't sure about the title of this question, considering what else some call 'weed'. I said you can't call it that I might end up with the police knocking at my door.....

Well spotted, April. Mg and Ba have been an issue for the last forty years. I think that we are the only couple on GoY who write our own blogs. You will notice that we don't always agree with each other!

Dead right we don't! We are an 'item' not an 'issue'!
