What can I do to get alium seeds to germinate?

Live in Ohio and cannnot get my alium seed to germinate. Any special need that I am missing?

Any particular kind of Alliums that you are trying?
The general information was given a few days ago on a similar allium thread, but there are some rarer types of Allium from California which are rather more difficult to grow from seed.
