Java Plum - Syzygium cumini

Java Plum - Syzygium cumini (Syzygium cumini)

This is one of several Java plum trees at this motel. There was very interesting tropical trees in the back of this tree...however, it was fenced off. Photo taken April 14, 2015.

Is that what they look like? Very nice. I'm used to the other used as a hedge or topiary.
That would a great addition. Ornamental and edible.

I used to have so many Java plums and Rose apples when I lived up in the SF Bay Area. I gave many away when I moved to San Diego. They're pretty hardy. Even if they get nipped by cold they grow so extremely fast you never even notice. I never had one get nipped by cold when I lived in Mission San Jose, Fremont, though.

The only problem with this tree is when you have one you have a million. They germinate so easily everywhere from the seeds.
