Wow nice pic Gilli....and not really Dawnsaunt. I know this one lays in the sun at the bottom of my next door neighbours garden and shoot off as soon as I walk down the garden. But he must have such an acute sense of smell as he appears withing a few minutes of my putting any sort of meat leftovers out.

You are very kind Milky, doing your bit for the wildlife, I know some people think they are pests but they are only following their instincts :-)

Love your Fox pictures Milky, I have only ever seen one briefly from a distance, always feel sorry for them the way they are hunted and given a bad name. Thank you for sharing your experiences I am adding you to my favourites.

2 Mar, 2009

Thanks Pansy.......yes they have got a bad name because theyn kill for the sake of it not just because they are hungry..........

I don't want to start anything Milky but it's not the fox that is at fault, it is people. The fox only does what comes naturally and in the wild would kill extra food if he had the chance. He would then cache it probably by burying it and return to it later. They do this as an insurance against the times when there is little or no food about. The unnatural thing is for man to keep animals and birds in insecure cages where the fox can gain access. Everything has to eat and it's a shame that man feels that he alone has the right to life.
Like you I feed the foxes every night with a cheap brand of dog food and any appropriate kitchen scraps we have left over.
Long may Reynard thrive.

Oh Toto....I didn't mean that the fox was at fault..they are just doing what comes naturally, I totally agree with you that people dont secure their animals or birds in insecure cages. Like you I am always putting food out for them.....I love seeing Freddie, and worry if he doesn't show.

No I know you didn't Milky. I didn't mean to imply that you did. Please accept my apologies if you thought I meant you. It's obvious to me from your comments, both past and present that you are of a similar nature to myself. I was only trynig to put my case across and it was not directed at you or anyone of the GOY members that I can think of.
Every now and again I get on my soapbox as animals and birds cannot speak for themselves. I is one of my many faults. Typical idiot I'm afraid.

Your no idiot Toto....and I know you didn't mean me in particular....no offence taken my friend.....

I had a Nigerian fellow working with me one night when a fox appeared in the parking lot. He was quite excited by this and started asking me questions about it. Not that I know anything about wildlife but he was happy to know it was more scared of him than he was of it.

Only a small dog after all......little bit smelly, but never mind.... he is just looking for a bite to eat......
