Grown from a pack of seeds, free with a gardening magazine last year.

I like the spires of flowers, not too keen on the huge leaves on this one though. On the plus side, the slugs ignore them.

How lovely it looks too Shirley. I'm afraid the one you sent me hasn't done so well and I don't understand why.
I've grown them in the past all around the garden and I thought it would come on really well. The penstemon is looking strong and healthy though..☺️

Janey, that's a shame. I actually moved one as the leaves were too big for the position it was in, it has recovered and is showing a couple of 'spikes'.
Good luck with the Penstemon. I think it was 'Garnet' variety?

Yes it was. I'm looking forward to seeing it bloom.

A lovely plant, Shirley! I confused it for a moment with a Foxglove somebody was growing last year! It also was a white spike!

A pretty one, Shirley. I love that it was from a free packet of seeds and it’s flourishing this year.

Kate, they took a while to germinate but definitely worth the wait. One bonus is the slugs and snails leave them alone, perhaps because the foliage is a bit 'hairy'!
