Tulip 'Early Harvest'

Tulip 'Early Harvest'

Good morning Goy friends. Stay safe and well. :) All is well here at Dunvorist Cottage. :) I'm not sure how perennial this bulb is...any advice...should I put them in the borders for next spring?

Lovely K..
all well here..good to hear you are too.
running out of jobs..did I really say that!!!...I find the smaller tulips are better than the taller ones for repeat flowering.
Do miss going to the GC though don't you?

Well Julia...yes, but I have some things ordered so I am waiting to receive them. All shall be well, and we can help the online nurseries at this awful time. X

Beautiful Tulips, Karen!

I was reading on the BBC webpage this morning that this virus is going to cause the permanent closure of many garden centres & growers. It has come at the worse possible moment for them as this is the time of year when the greatest number of sales are made. 100s of tonnes of bedding plants will have to be scrapped as there is nowhere to sell them as CC & retail stores have been told to close & only essential food shops are open.

Millions of garden plants set to be binned:

Yes, it could be a tragedy for them. However, I think they could find a solution if they worked creatively. Bedding could be sold outside supermarkets and at farm shops which are still open to sell ready made meals etc. They could have honesty boxes at their gates. And with all of the social media options they could fund solutions, including of course, posting plants to customers in the mail. The on-line nurseries are going to do well out of this. They are all telling me that they have extremely high demand. Perhaps they might take some of the excess from the struggling Garden Centres. But there are essentials for physical health (gardening is good exercise) and there are essentials for mental health too. I think they should allow plant stores to open and just exercise social distancing as they are in supermarkets.

I quite agree with you, Karen!
