Back of the house and deck-side bed

We just built the new railing on the balcony yesterday with my parent's help. I stained the lower deck last week, and below that you can see my tomatoes and "Squashy Sam" my Marina di Chioggia pumpkin on the left. In the right corner of the photo is my "Cardinal Red" hydrangea, next year I will probably put another on the other side of the steps for symmetry.

The grand plan is to build a pergola onto the face of the 3-season room and put containers and climbing things everywhere! But it may take me some time to get enough containers together, we have an aversion to buying nice pots new because they're so pricey - even the plastic ones!.
