Carica papaya 'Thai Dwarf'

Carica papaya 'Thai Dwarf' (Carica papaya 'Thai Dwarf')

These two Thai Dwarf papayas were planted together in this spot as 3" seedlings on July 31st 2015. They are now 7' tall. I believe they are going to flower soon. Photo taken Oct. 28, 2016.

ha,well I think they wait for 83 and half degree's to do any growing. Hence, you have many more of that then the bay area.
Its taken 3 years to get to about 4'. If they grew fast at 73f? I would have a grove of them!

I just noticed I put in the text box under the photo that I planted them on January 31st (I never plant papayas in January), when it was July 31st. I must have been half asleep. LOL!

Thai Dwarf papayas grow much faster than Maradol papaya plants. They grow as fast as Solo papayas.

I should plant some Solo's- always have them at the markets...but if they are more tender and more rot prone,it might be tough to grow them on.

I wish you the best of luck with Hawaiian solo papayas. They're extremely tender! And very prone to rotting in wet, cold soil.

Those are the ones that would fall over in November.
But,the climate has changed...pretty sure. hee.

You would probably have better luck with Thai Dwarf than Hawaiian Solo papayas. They really don't like any chill at all. Here they loose most of their leaves during January...even if it's hot! I know because I've grown papayas for many years now. :)
