Rambling Rector 2

Rambling Rector 2

Rose pictures in my garden open at the present time. I wanted to say thank you to my daughter (Karen Susan) for all her encouragement with them and a great big thank you to Michaella for her advice and encouragement when things were not going too well with them after the rabbit invasion last year, as you can see they are now growing well. Thank you girls. I am so pleased I have persevered they are so very nice and these are just a few - lots more to come out yet.

Lots and lots more to come Barbara, like mine...they are all recovering well, my Veilchenblau has started to bloom now :))) I would say in a week's time I shall see a lot more roses in the rose garden..then it should be able to get a colorful picture of them all. :))))

Ah, lovely Mum! It's so exciting when all the roses start to flower isn't it. I was so anticipating my 'Bridge of Sighs' as it was covered in beautiful pointy buds, but sad to say the rain came at exactly the wrong time and the flowers are rubbish now. So sad. However, there are more buds still to open, so you never know! Roses just make a garden don't they? Especially one like yours with so much room for ramblers and climbers. It was worth all the effort of putting in that fence when you see your rose here in the photo...it's gorgeous!

Thank you girls!!!!!! :o) It is very exciting seeing them all come to life and with lots of colour coming in now. Sad when the rain spoils them, even more sad when the darned rabbits eat them, but they are all doing so well now we have them fenced out of the garden. The fence was well worth all my hard work, it looks great, there is one bald patch on it but a rose has been planted and is just starting to climb so hopefully next year it will be covering the bare patch of trellis. Thank you both again for all your encouragement and the expertise knowledge you have imparted. I could not have managed without it. I am so pleased with my roses I think you can tell. lol :o)

I'm not surprised....I love mine too! :D And the best bit of all is that some of them will still be flowering in Nov/Dec if we get a mild enough autumn!

I wish I had room for this one. Do they need plenty of sun?

22 Jun, 2012

think most roses like a good amount of sunshine, but this one is in the middle of the garden and doing well - it gets sunshine for most of the day. It does grow very fast so I shall have to prune it quite a lot for next year or it will hide the two red ones either side of it. :o)

I shan't be getting that, then Barbara as I don't have many places left in the sun because of all the beech trees.I shall hopefully be catching up on all your photos soon, still busy on the allotment, but the rain got me back in the greenhouse to do some very late baskets. I don't suppose it will make much difference when they are put out now!

You could grow it up through the trees though Rose, it would do well climbing through them. It would eventually find its way up to the top and look very good. I am trying to grow a rose through a shrub I have, mainly to give it some colour as it does not seem to do what it should for some reason in my garden. I like the shrub so will not chop it out but I thought a rose through it would be nice. (Karen Susan gave me the idea to do it)

Have just found your reply. How does it attach itself to a tree if you can't reach to fasten it in, and how do you get up there to dead head it?

25 Jun, 2012

Don't think you need to deadhead if they are up a tree. I suppose it is similar to my Wisteria, everyone says you have to prune them to make them flower but this one of mine is 30+ feet up in a tree and has never been trimmed yet and still produces lots of beautiful flowers. lol :o) If you look at Michaellas pictures she wires the trunk of trees so that will give them something to start to get hold of and then just let them have their head. Maybe ask a question and see what others do with them. Someone with knowledge greater than mine will be able to help you I am sure Rose. Maybe a rambler rather than a climber would be best.
