Musa 'Mysore' - Mysore Bananas with male flowers

Musa 'Mysore' - Mysore Bananas with male flowers (Musa 'Mysore' - Mysore Bananas)

My Mysore banana plant will have all the male flowers (at end of banana stalk) removed to prevent them from taking energy from the developing bananas. Photo taking July 24, 2010.

I love these, although I would be tempted to keep a male flower going!

Have you ever cooked the flower? I see them for sale all the time at the Asian markets. A delicacy I understand.

No, I have never cooked the male flowers. Yes, I do understand it's a delicacy in Asia and very expensive.

This banana grows well in the Bay Area. It produces such sweet and delicious bananas with fertilizer and water.
