poorly beech tree

poorly beech tree

this 3" diameter branch came down in the stiff breeze today. it has two fungal infections, the orangy one is a coral spot. the other is 'jews ear' fungus. usually on elder and elm. so I am more than a bit concerned for the beech tree. :o(

i have mixed feelings. it is an old [150yrs] tree so its lovely but it casts a lot of shade and certainly is a challenge to garden under.

no sadly not. if its a soggy garden do you treat it as a bog garden?

ive made raised beds from old logs and i have quite a few pots.i live near the bottom of a valley and all the water drains down through my garden and then into the local brook.
