This evergreen tree is commonly grown as a street tree...however, it has, as you can see a gigantic trunk. It's a fast growing tree and extremely drought tolerant. Photo taken in Balboa Park on Oct. 19, 2009.

It is a magnificent tree - we often call it the Peppermint Willow because of the smell you get when you crush the leaves.
