you are about 40 mins from brigemere garden world and the dorothy clive garden which has a plant hunting fair on this weekend (they have a website).
Also you are near Ellesmere the lakes are lovely to walk around..Try Conway castle and llandudno. Betsycoed Is not too far and worth a visit. There are also two lovely areas near llangollen - Worlds End and the horseshoe pass.

Blimey Kfunsters you must know the area well, doubt she'll have time to see all that though you and I know that you'd be hard pressed to find anywhere nicer. Just one thing, If you go to Ellesmere don't call 'em lakes ;-))
Not keen on Bridgemere since it was sold but I saw the add in the paper for Dorothy Clive Garden where I encountered my first Dierama. love to go again. It has individual personality written all over it, a bit like Hodnet Gardens, not far away.

I live not far from bridgemere - always checking out their sales spot lol, otherwise I rarely buy from there too expensive, there are many other nurseries in the locality that are much more reasonable. I went to Stapeley Water Gardens today as I saw a poster saying Water lily clearance - well the sale was on at the nursery beds at the back - been there loads of times I didn't know this bit existed as it isn't usually open to the public. It was very unkept but consisted of loads of water filled metal trays filled with water plants many weed filled and over grown. There were 2 nursery men there that were very very helpful after money exchanged I came away a very happy pond owner with lots of bargain plants and a yellow lily - I dont think they had been busy and were pleased to see me.
