Hose Pipe ban boo hoo!

Its rare to have a hose pipe ban in the Northwest, but as of tomorrow that is what we have. At the moment we will be able to water the garden but with watering cans – that’ll give me some muscles.
Would you join me in a rain dance? any suggestions how this might be choriographed? (excse spelling)

its hard to cerdit it after the bad winter we had isn't it--- I thought I read somewhere that drip feed or " leaky pipe" is acceptable?

My sympathy on your ban. Not too long after the '76 drought we were promised "NO MORE HOSEPIPE BANS AGAIN" by Severn-Trent Water.I await with baited breath

In 76,we had a hosepipe ban here, and I used to syphon the bath water out into the kids paddling pool also I emptied the wash.machine into the padd pool as well and I used that to water everything and nothing suffered because of the soap etc !! It was a case of needs must. Good luck, it is a pain isn't it?

Sorry to hear your news. I hope you don't find it too inconvenient.
I never use a hosepipe anyway.

Very handy ! if we have a ban here I will have to use just the tap to fill, still its good exercise

I could join you in a dance - I'm fine choreographed at anything as long as I don't have to move my feet, that's for advanced level students only. I'd probably fall over, lol.
Pain about the hosepipe ban for you, if it continues so dry we'll all be in the same (beached) boat anyway. My neighbour and I have been doing all we possibly can to tempt rain - leave washing out too long, refill water butt, she's even washed her car! I think washing a tin box goes beyond the call of duty though.

I too am banned as from tomorrow, my problem is that my soil is about a foot deep, underneath is solid clay so the roots can only go down a foot, they need watering as in hot weather it very soon dries up. looks like I'll be spending a lot of time with a watering can. Apparently I am allowed to fill the pond with the hose so I'll dip the can in the pond.

I'm sure a watering ban is coming soon; we've had them every summer for several years now. In the meantime I put the sprinklers on every other night or so, but I have clay also and it doesn't take long for everything to dry up. We are also in the middle of a heat wave with temps nearly 100 degrees, so good luck, plants.

Its hard work to have to water by watering can only, and some people who couldn't do it will just have to lose plants. Apparently you're only allowed to fill the pond with a hosepipe if there are fish in it, and even if you use the hose to fill your watering can you could still be fined, because Any Use of a Hose is banned. Yes Boo Hoo..
Our garden is like dust, the soil is so sandy and dry it just takes gallons without retaining any. We have added compost but it would take years to completely change its composition. Luckily we don't have a ban in the Anglian region. .

Heron + Mad is that right I can fill the pond using a hose pipe? If it is brill that will save a lot of work.

Good luck with your watering..
Are you building up those arm muscles ? Lol ?

I always use watering cans, not hose, front and back gardens...
and after weeks and weeks of no rain, the frequent watering is becoming very tiring and time-consuming... but I'm getting very fit, and I LOVE this hot weather... was working out there 12 hours non-stop yesterday ! :o)

I think it's rained now......it started raining soon after the ban started. Years ago it was so bad all over the country, and they appointed a 'water minister' and it rained the rest of the year after he took office. In the London area it hasn't rained properly for about 2 months. I do the same as TT no hoses just nip back and to with 2 plastic cans that hold about 2 litres each.
