Feeling very disappointed :(

I always order Fuchsias in January from a nice nursery in Lydney Glos, but this year their website is unavailable and their phone number is ‘not recognised’ :(

I know there are other Fuchsia nurseries but this one was the best I knew of – always sent strong healthy plants, and had a wide variety of unusual Fuchsias.

What am I going to do now ? :(

If only some things could just stay the same.
That is such a shame Hywel. I am sure you will get some good suggestions from your friends on here. Wishing you lots of luck with your search.

I do hate it when that happens, and it does. People give up, pass on, sell land: the latter is a favourite around here.

What about the British Fuchsia Society. I just Googled and there seem to be lots of well-established Fuchsia -selling websites around.

Have you tried Potash for mail order Hywel? I've found them good except that you have to buy six at once mail order. Oh dear, how difficult, lol...

It might be worth contacting Bridgend Fuchsia Society for their recommendations of local(ish) ones. I know there used to be a specialist one at Porthcawl but can't seem to find it now.

I mentioned this to my husband, Hywel, and he said that Fuchsias plants around here (Dorset) have had problems, the gall mite. A friend had to dispose of every plant in the greenhouse. Hence your need for strong healthy plants.
Not sure if this gall mite is confined to Southern England: hope so.

Thanks for your advice all :)

I've had a look at several other sites over the years, but they don't seem to have such a wide variety as Other Fellow Fuchsias. That's why I always sent for them from there.

In Potash nursery they are £4 each ! I think that's a lot for a rooted cutting.

British Fuchsia Society don't have any plants for sale.

I'll have another good look at different sites I think.

I've heard Fuchsia gall mite is more prevalent in south of England but may be spreading to other places. I keep my beedy eye on my ones :)

I don't think I paid anything like that last year Hywel because there was a minimum six per order and sure i would have remembered a bill for £48!!!. They must have gone up a lot suddenly. That's them off the list then! I haven't really got room for any more without extending, and I haven't got the energy for that!
I had a gall mite attack last spring but caught it before it spread and it didn't recur thank goodness.

I'm glad you got rid of the gall mite Sue.

I'll have to look again at Potash. Maybe they have cheaper ones, or a discount for buying so many.

I've found a few nurseries I didn't know of, that look promising. I'll have to look again tomorrow when it's not so late. I'm desperate to send for some Fuchsias lol !

I am sure wherever you find your plants this year you will put on an amazing show as always x

Let me know what you find Hywel, though the plan is to resist buying any more, lol.

I've got a better plan Sue - buy as many as you can and worry about where to put them after they arrive :)

Thanks, I've found something, I'll write about it soon.

Oh dear, that's a blow! With your expertise perhaps you should try setting up your own Online Nursery.

Now that's a thought Waddy ! If I had more room and more time I'd do it :)
