New plants came today.

It’s been so busy here since Christmas I’ve hardly had time to pop in here and haven’t had chance really to keep up with all your blogs and photos. I thought I would just pop in and tell you about my new plants…and take an hour or so to catch up as best I can.
I lost my Pieris last year when I moved them from the pots they had been in for at least 10 years. They had become leggy and I thought they would be ok in the border. Sadly they just turned brown and I couldn’t save them. I haven’t managed to find the same kind as them but when I googled them for suppliers I came across a site that had a sale on. I thought the price of these Pieris from the firm (Gardening Express) that I have never heard of before was very good and thought it worth trying them out. I ordered the plants 4 days ago and they arrived today. I was impressed with the way they were packed and when I eventually got through to the plants themselves I was pleasantly surprised at how healthy they all look. I’d ordered 2 Pieris ‘Little Heath’, a Vaccinium ‘Red Candy’ (Cranberry plant) a white Azalea and a Royal Botanical Garden tulip bulb collection containing 3 Exquisit, 5 Nightrider and 5 Purple Dream. I potted them all up straight away so that I could leave them to settle in the greenhouse until it’s ok to put them out on the patio. Here they are after I had removed the cardboard packing…

I hope they settle into the pots I’ve planted them in.

I'm always wary of ordering online after too many disappointments but your plants look wonderfully healthy. I'm sure they will flourish.

They do look healthy Sheila....I love Pieris, the two I have are the only ones I've ever managed to keep! Both were from the sale area in my local GC and have done so well these last couple of years..... Looking forward to seeing more of yours..

Thanks for your comments everyone. We are edging nearer to the milder weather thankfully. I'm looking forward to the daffodils opening now and then I shall feel as if the winter is truly ending.

Good looking sturdy plants HB and it shouldn`t be too long now before those daffs are showing there faces. The weather here today as been quite sunny did quite a bit this morning with OH`s help, we managed to untangle a climbing rose from a fence panel which had trellis at the top it was blown down from high winds we had last week. That makes three altogether which are being replaced tomorrow, they have been there a long time so we mustn`t complain, although I probably will when it comes to painting the new ones.

How about that!!!... I'm waiting for an order from them as well, first time ordering but will be well pleased if they are as good as yours look, I did get out to prune my roses last Saturday and even had a tidy around the beds and borders, it was so nice to be outside for a while, rain is back this morning so maybe just a wander into the g'houses.....

Your new plants certainly look healthy enough, Homebird. Hope they do well for you & you get many years pleasure from them.

Incredibly, in the snow yesterday, a man came with a massive box from Crocus which contained a big Viburnum 'Kilimanjaro' for my green and white back garden. I shall keep it in the greenhouse until this dreadful weather passes. But honestly, fancy going around the country delivering plants in these conditions...mad!

I suppose he is one of many delivery men and women who are paid by the drop off. He would have been down on income if he had not taken a chance on getting the plant to you. When the company accepted your order and he agreed to deliver it the weather was not expected to be this bad. I hope he got home safely.
