The Garden Community for Garden Lovers

My favourite of all the gardens we visited in Barlborough.

This is Clarendon. The front garden and back gardens to this house were of a very similar size. Although the back garden was an upside down L shape the owner had done a great job in making it all very interesting and enjoyable. We start with a walk around the front garden.

Down the left hand side of the house and into the back garden..

We loved how he had created this grotto/walkthrough . He explained that the shrubs were already there and he noticed one day that he could cut away a tunnel through between them. He said someone had suggested he turn it into a grotto at Christmas with lights and raindeer!!! and he was quite amused by the idea.

Out into the bottom corner of the garden..

Round the side to the lovely wild life pond and over the bridge..

then round another corner to the house I want to move in to…

A quick look back and then round the side of the house where the pet chicken lives and off to view the last garden..

Thanks ever so much for sharing this with us! I've added to my favourites for later. I would have loved that garden visit too, its absolutely enchanting. There's not that much colour is there? And yet it really does look wonderful. You cant beat green! :)

Gorgeous. I loved the little pretend stream and the grotto - I always admire a bit of imagination (probably because I haven't got any...)

Thanks Homebird. They've got it right, haven't they, very nice indeed. Does anyone have any idea what the plant is to the left of, overhanging the keep off the grass sign ?

It's very neat and tidy....perhaps a little too orderly for me though. What a great feature that pebble stream is!i think it's a Cranebil Geranium, isn't it Dawnsaunt? With a variegated Conifer the other side.

Hi Paul, hmmm I see where you're coming from, I was thinking it was a bigger leaved plant but guess it's how the photo has captured it, thank you. ?

Thanks everyone for taking a look. It is Dawn and the photo does make the leaves look very big. You can see it better in the photo with the red flag and arrow pointing into the grotto. I think I like this garden so much because I think it's perfect for children to play in. Lots to entertain them. (And I'm just a big kid myself!!!)

Absolutely fabulous. Would have loved to have visited for real but thanks for sharing. What a lot of imagination they've used, love the pebble rill & the 'keep off the grass'
troll!

Beautiful and very imaginative with the garden's secret places and variety of enjoyment. It takes alot of time and effort to keep this wonderful perimeter garden as large as this under control. I do like their choice of plantings in that there is stability and balance of appearance all season long thus preventing one part of the perimeter blazing with color and another part appearing muted. Thank you for this Homebird!
