February Frost

I got up to watch the Tennis final in Australia (Come on Novak!!) and was greeted by a lovely white frost. I stayed indoors and took a few photos through the windows. Midwinter is so pretty sometimes!

Lovely Karen, I spied your new standard roses :-)
A good frost is so pretty. Business as usual here, wet and fairly mild.

Well I'm pleased to say we didn't get that Karen , The red stems of the Cornus stand out beautifully ..

Very pretty indeed.

Looks very pretty, I hope it didn't catch out any unseasonal flowerers.

Thanks everyone. Siris, some of the flowers went down, but they have all recovered with the thaw.

Lovely to see the garden covered with frost - from the inside of the house! Makes the whole garden seem more magical somehow! The standard roses should look lovely later in the year when they flower! The red Cornus stems really stand out against the frosty grass!

I had a a lie-in this morning but watched the tennis highlights this afternoon (without knowing the result)

Thank you Balcony. It will be a long time before we see those roses. But lots to enjoy before then.

Nice one Andrew. Things were looking so bad in set 3 that I was sure Novak was injured and just seeing it out. I went out with the dogs in the rain. We had a nice long walk and I came back to Novak a break up in the final set! Unbelieveable...incredible mental strength. Apparently he was nauseous from dehydration. But how on earth he allowed that to happen......

It looks lovely and even better when inside in the warmth !

Thanks Rose x

Hydration is so important. I still drink 3 pints of water daily. In the heatwaves it should be 4 - so a Dr. said.

I think we have only had about three frosty mornings in the south west so far, but just getting ready for the next storm. The last one a few weeks ago managed to snap one of my fence posts and blew a hole in one of the fence panels, I have just bodged it for the moment until the weather gets better, then a few more fence panels and posts to refit again I think. As Balcony said your garden looks magical with that bit of frost.

Thanks Davey. Yes, storms to come here too. My daughter in in Dorset and has lost two bits of fencing already this winter.

Really beautiful photos, Karen, and I love your new Avatar :))

Ferocious winds here yesterday, but they just made a mess of the garden - no damage.

We got off really lightly! Thanks Sheila x

We were also very lucky here as it seemed more like a "storm in a teacup" than the "ferocious monster" it was depicted to be!

On the other hand from watching the scenes on BBC Breakfast this morning I can quite understand why it did appear to be a "ferocious monster" of a storm to some people. My heart goes out to those that suffered so badly.

You can bet that the beast from the East will come in March and bite us on the bottom Balcony! ;)

Thank you...it was lovely, and all gone before 11am. I hope you are ok...the winds down your way...brrr....and aaaaargh!

So far thanks Karen.......lots of scorching.......Denis is expected this weekend!

12 Feb, 2020

I know...I’ve never liked that name!

Dennis - rather than a menace - has turned out to be a "Storm-in-a-teacup" here! Though my heart goes out to those who have had to suffer with their homes being flooded out - yet again! ;(
