Jack Is Back!

Jack has returned to Angus. He seems so pretty now, in November. But we could have another 5 months of this if it’s a bad winter. I don’t think I’ll be quite so enthusiastic by the time we get to March!

I hope you enjoyed these….I took them in my dressing gown and slippers this morning! Brrrrr! :)

And to think that I grumble because the dew point is very close to morning temperatures and everything is wet when I go out to see what is open today.

Wow Karen, everything looks beautiful including the view. Which Malus is this one? My gardening attire is dressing gown, hat and wellies.

What a difference Jack Frost makes to our gardens when he decides to drop by! He did a good job on your garden over night!

He visited us overnight too! Everything showed his handiwork this morning! Together with his cousin Freezing Fog they didn't leave a blade of grass untouched! The cars & the roofs of the houses just over the road were also covered!

Very brave of you to go out & take photos in just your dressing gown! Hope you don't suffer for it later.

Thanks Balcony. I will be fine. I am now as fo5 as a fiddle and seem to be shaking off head colds armed with nothing but my Ibuprofen and a bottle of Glenmorangie! :)

Looks so pretty, all those leaves rimed with the frost. We had frost last night, 19th, too but not so severe as yours.

Perhaps Jack & Frosty would do a house swap?! He's already overstayed his welcome by a long shot. Agree with above - breathtaking vistas.

No Jack today..back to low pressure and heavy grey skies.

I was thinking about your garden today Karen, so neat and tidy and ready for winter, mine in contrast just isnt, I'm envious

Jack certainly left his mark in your garden..but so pretty...you can't complain really can you? we had a light frost all gone by 9 am...

Good grief Karen. Dressing gown and slippers! No wonder you need the whisky.
It has been really cold here in Glasgow. I took my friend and fellow gardener, Barbara to Pollok Park today to check out their veg patch. After a quick look around it was into the house for tea and scones.
Too cold for gardening.

One hundred per cent improvement on wet, soggy muddy conditions!!
The close up photos are particularly pretty. The frost emphasise the beautiful shapes and patterns within plants.
It really was a lovely scene.

Thanks Dawn, but you should see the weeds in the Golden Border!

No Angela, can't complain. I love the frosty days, absolutely love them. Sadly back to wind and rain now.

I know Linda! I had to get out there and get the photos while the sun was low in the sky. :) Luckily I have several bottles of Malt beside me in the living room!

Thank you Chris, yes so much better than mud and flood!

Beautiful autumn colours, so much better looking than our soggy muddy vista's...

Beautiful pics, Karen! I love a frosty morning with crisp sunshine, much nicer than a damp, dreich day!
You’ve captured the garden at a nice time too, feels festive ready!

Very pretty pictures, Karen ...
you've captured the true essence of your frosty garden.

Thanks everyone! We had one ore day of bright weather I think. Its been raining and extremely grey ever since. Today it has poured all day through thick fog so we’ve had no daylight. The poor dogs are fed up too. I have a big box of species dwarf tulips to get i. To the patio border, so I hope the weather changes soon!

We woke to a hard frost here in the Chilterns too yesterday, everything looks so pretty with a white frosting, the spiders' webs were sparkling like jewels! Take heart Karen, you are not alone in having tulips still to plant .... this week if we are lucky eh! ;-)

They are in Xela! I did it on Friday when the ground was still workable. It was a bit muddy, but where they are it is very well-derained, so they should be ok. Very hard frost here this morning. I am loving this sparkling ‘Scandinavian’ winter weather!

I knew yours would be planted first, Karen, well done. :-) Sorry to say mine are still in their paper bags waiting for a window in the weather and pre-Christmas frazzle ;-) Had the ground been soft enough they would have gone in yesterday ... we are promised a mild window this weekend so I am still optimistic, lol. There have been weather warnings about fog but as yet the world here has retained that wonderful winter sparkle, superb when the sun shines too!
