Autumn Clear-Out part 2

Its raining yet again here today, but this morning started bright, so I managed to get the pod area finished off.

As you will see, almost all of the plants have gone. I’ve planted Camellia Night Rider back in there in the middle, out of shot. So all thats there now are Camellias, Hydrangeas and a Viburnum tinus. Everything else has been replanted elsewhere. My rusty flowers stakes are in there now. The hedge has had a good trim and the gravel has had a quick wash. I might get a few more bags just to top it up.

Grass was cut short in preparation for the scarifier. Hopefully get that done tomorrow. The weather looks better for tomorrow. Off to the GC next for moss and weedkiller for the lawn, Algon for the paths etc, some compost for my pots and some pretty autumnal things for the front door. Hope the sun is shining somewhere!

I am very pleased Julia. It looks so much better, and more contemporary - in keeping with the Pod's character.

Amy, I am so surprised you haven't seen the pod before! It's from 'Ornate Garden' a company based in the West Midlands who assemble each pod by hand in situ. They are at all the big outdoor events, Royal Highland Show, Chelsea etc. And they also sell through John Lewis. There are several models ranging in price as you can imagine. We bought ours when we were celebrating our 25th Wedding Anniversary at Chelsea Flower Show five years ago now. It kind of makes up for the loss of our lovely Conservatory which we loved. This cottage just doesn't lend itself to a Conservatory, but the Pod is a great contrast to the house and we can sit in there and enjoy the garden without the usual high winds! It has electricity, heating and lights, so can be used all year around. Everyone loves it and it's a bit different to the usual Summerhouse. Comes fully furnished and seats 10 at a push. You get a dining table as well, so you can either have coffee table as we do, or put the dining table in if you want to have a meal out there (we have done this, once!).

And no, it doesn't rotate, but there is one model that does! :)

You have been busy, it looks very neat, and suits the pods contemporary appearance.....as you say!

That is a nice looking pod. I have been busy, as well, but more out of necessity: Lorenzo is passing by starting tomorrow night. So it's get all the loose stuff picked, arrange to put plants inside, fill plastic bottles with water for the freezer section, and check the roof tiles.

Oh Wylie....good luck! That one is coming our way. Hopefully it will have calmed down by the time it reaches us!

Thanks Karen ,I love it I'm afraid I've not kept up too well on GOY this last year with all that's been going on with our move etc. I'm not sure that I would have space in my smaller garden but I'm going to look at at your link ..

I'm happy to say Lorenzo wasn't much more than the average winter storm where I am, but I am on the north side of a large mountain with a good wind shadow. Lots of wind, but almost no rain. The cats hated being inside until the worst was over. I walked up the street last night and recorded a gust of 50 mph on my anemometer.

What a brilliant way to mark your silver wedding anniversary Karen, a very eye-catching pod and how marvellous to be able to use it all year round! Pod envy has broken out here too :-) ..... I am a lace-maker and would love to have such a retreat in which to enjoying the garden and countryside views while bobbing bobbins, even less housework would be done!!!!
