THIS IS MY PREVIOUS BLOG BUT WITH THE SCRIPT OF THE ARTICLE ADDED AT THE BOTTOM.

Today is the big day. Our garden is a feature in Scotland On Sunday, the Homes and Home supplement. It’s strange to see your own work in a paper….bit surreal!

Wonderful!!!! Well done. Hope to be there in August. I am on standby jury duty from the 20th so it will be the 6th or the 13th.
Did the garden survive all that wind and rain?

Well deserved, K,.... Must be interesting to look back on your first few months there to see the difference. Your garden has transformed slowly before our eyes into a beautiful and interesting landscape.

Got the paper....read the article.....it is just great.
Can't wait to see it all.
Has the wind and rain been a problem?
I had to rescue my Tree Lilies and Mexican Sun Flowers.

Thank you all for your lovely comments...what an amazing crowd you are! I don’t think we would be in the paper without all your help, advice and generousity. Xx

Make sure you frame the article so when you’re out there in the pouring rain, mud everywhere you remember why you love gardening so much and the bonus that others admire your garden too!! Many congratulations, a well deserved pat on the back! 👍🏻😁

Great advice Amsterdam! Thank you x

Congratulations! Fame at last! And much deserved from the photos I've already seen of your garden. So, how long have you been gardening?

29 Jul, 2018

31 years this year PBs! I was 24 when I got my first garden. It was behind our first house, divided into 2 (because the house was built as two flats). Then when we bought the other flat we converted into one house so I had double the space. That’s when it really started as I was at home with my babies. 18 years later, when Rachel was 16, we moved to Carnoustie and I had 7 years there starting from a perfectly blank canvas. Then in October 2013 we moved here, and of course the children have both now left home, so theres plenty of time for me to work in the garden. :)

Thanks Amy and GFinger! :) very busy out there today...weeding, re-dressing arrangements of potted plants, dead-heading etc. Etc. It never ends...well not before December anyway!

30 Jul, 2018

Many congratulations, a very exciting achievement.

You have had a memorable year and must feel really delighted with your beautiful garden.

Thank you Chris. I am chuffed to bits with the garden. Opening it up has meant even more hard work than usual, but it has been worth it as the garden is looking absolutely lovely. Especially after all this lovely rain. Next party is coming on Friday, and after that its every Monday until September. Unfortunately my oven broke down during the third baking session of June and we have to get a new one, which is lovely, but very complicated and we still dont have an oven. So I have to go to Rachel, my daughter’s house to make the cakes. Hopefully the oven will be in before she leaves us for Dorset!

30 Jul, 2018

How lovely! We all enjoy our gardens so much, even better that you get to share yours in so many ways. Well done and carry on the good work.

A stunning example of what can be achieved with a bit of inspiration and a lot of hard work. Thats my goal to get my urban patch to be an oasis for myself the OH and any wildlife who want to share it with us.

Thank you very much Littleoldman! :) You will achieve your dreams...one day at a time :)

1 Aug, 2018

Karen! I was wondering if you can post the article to this website? I'd like to read it. Is that possible? Sometimes the publication will email it to you upon request.

1 Aug, 2018

Not a problem Bathgate. I can scan it and post it on here.

1 Aug, 2018

Fantastic! Thank You!

2 Aug, 2018

Terrific achievement Karen - so exciting for you (and us, feeling proud of you)!

2 Aug, 2018

Thanks Sheila. I had an email from the photographer today to say he wasn’t happy with the pics they chose...I thought it was lovely of him to get in touch with me. We have a special opening tomorrow for a party of 10 local ladies, so I’ve been busy baking today, and its going to be raining when they are due to come tomorrow. So frustrating. I’ll be serving cake and teas in my living room! I don’t think I’ll do this again next year. With daughter moving to Dorset, wedding to organise, and unhelpful weather prospects, I think it will be too much. We’ll see how we feel at the end of the month.

2 Aug, 2018

Dorset is a great place to live - good decision by Rachel!

Hope you have sun after all today for your visitors :)

3 Aug, 2018

Interesting to read how your garden has evolved and how you took on the challenges to realize your vision. I thought the 'turf chairs' were genius. Reminds me of when my brothers and I would carve out a complete 'living room set' from giant snow mounds in the back yard. Thank you for posting the article! :)

3 Aug, 2018

You’re welcome! We had sunshine all afternoon! A bit breezy, but no RAIN!!

3 Aug, 2018

Marvellous article and very well deserved. Brilliant! You must be "chuffed to little monkeys" my Dad would have said...

3 Aug, 2018

Whoo! So impressive! Well done you! :)

9 Aug, 2018

Thank you Stera and Pamela.
