The Green and White Garden in January

There’s a lot of bare mud, but the back garden still looks quite green……

And there are some flowers, sparse though they may be in places.

I’m amazed how this little garden has grown in only three years. The ferns have been wonderful. This picture was taken in May 2014 just 7 months after we moved here…

Same area from the other side taken in November..

We may have a little bit of snow by morning! Good luck everyone, stay warm and safe! ;)

Thanks SBG..most of mine are still underground! This little clump always comes up way before the others. It's strange as I'm pretty sure they were all in the same order from Ebay. But you never know, perhaps they are a different var.

Lovely, no snowdrops here, got some snow this morning but all gone now. Been out doing a tidy up this last week got another border started and two little ones done. Trying not to do too much in one go, the weather is stopping me at the minute no sunshine and freezing cold out there so have resorted to knitting for the new arrival, only three more weeks to wait. :O) Your garden has grown so quickly and looks like it has been insitu for lots more than three years. Keep up the good work. :O)

I love the planted area near your bird table, really nice. Also it is wonderful to see those dear little snowdrops in flower.

I should have put an after pic on of that area Chris. That last pic was taken three years ago this May! Its the 'before'. :)

You must have some goodness in that soil, because everything is doing so well, isn't it grand to have the snowdrops out, ours must be late varieties, usually the end of January here...the garden is indeed looking well matured...

Thank you Angela. This week I have looked at photos of the garden in July...wow, it was so lovely! I cant wait to see what it will produce this year! I've ordered some seeds from Sarah R and quite a few plants for the spring deliveries too. I just can't wait to get going this year. But thankfully, my half Sister is having a baby very soon, so I shall be creating something from yarn for her for the next few days and that will stop me fidgeting! I still have a few winter jobs to do in the garden once the weather eases up a little. But the feeling of anticipation at this time of year is sooooo good!

How does your garden grow ... quite wonderfully comparing your planting of three years ago. I do so love ferns and Viburnums never seem to let one down. How lovely to see your snowdrops in flower, mine have only just poked thru the ground. I hope I`ve not made a mistake by planting my bare root peach tree `Avalon`last Wednesday, its planted about a foot from the kitchen wall which is south facing. Will do a little blog next week weather permitting.
