My Crosstitch

Having enjoyed looking at Simbad’s crosstitch pictures I thought maybe you would like to see some of mine. I don’t do it anymore as it affects my eyes too much, but used to enjoy it, as it helps to pass the time as well. Hope you enjoy….

Lovely ... especially like pics 3 and 4 ... shame you don't do this now ... our daughter-in-law enjoys this hobby and is currently doing a very involved 'planets & stars' one. : o )

how lovely, I've not done cross stitch but did tapestry for a while and now enjoy quilting but not patchwork, last year was advent calendars, stockings and two cot quilts-- one was 'bunnies in bed' really enjoyable to do and less strain than Xstitch or tapestry

Thank you Shirley, no.4 is The garden shed. quite a complicated one to do. I have several unfinished, maybe I should persevere and do just a little at a time, with my magnifying glass.

Pam I used to do tapestry and then progressed on to cross stitch, but then in those days I used to make some of my own clothes too - ah well those days are gone I think....

Very nice love them all, but i really like the one with the kittys looking out the window at the birds, well done you they are beautifull...

You've done a lovely job of all your cross stitch, Cinders. I can see how intricate the work would be...my favourite was also the kittens looking out the window :)

They must bring you lots of enjoyment being able to hang them in pride of place in your home.

Very lovely cross-stitch work ....
... it's a pity when eyes deteriorate and hobbies can't be continued...

those are really beautiful, what a lot of work; i especially like the little boy fishing and the irresistable kittens looking at the birds.

They're beautiful Cinders, love the second one and the garden shed which must have taken forever, shame you can't still do it :-(

brilliant Cinders..bet the waterfall was difficult, with all those whites and greys...

3 Dec, 2010

Thanks everyone for all your lovely comments, I enjoyed doing them all. The one with the little boy especially has memories for me, as my husband when in the final stages of his illness watched me do it all. Also the one with the kittens I was doing when he died, but it doesnt stop me from enjoying them.

Tetrarch the waterfall was a bit difficult, it is a waterfall in Yosemite Park, which I believe is in Canada.

3 Dec, 2010

And Im sure he enjoyed watching you do them Cinders, despite his illness.

These are lovely Cinders, I have a few here but not my work, my daughters used to do a lot, now one is too busy with family, work and studying for a degree and my other daughter now has arthritis so cannot do anything like that now.I like them all but think the kittens watching the birds is my favourite........

You are so kind Sandra, thank you so much for your lovely comments. It does take a long time, but seeing the picture grow keeps you going.

They are lovely Cinders, specially the waterfall and the garden shed. I used to do a lot of needlework ie making most of my childrens clothes, knitting, crochet and embroidery but sadly am unable to do so anymore due to the strain on the eyes and achey hands. I now do cross stitch using a lamp with magnifying glass incorporated but find it quite fiddly. As you said, it takes a long time but it's great seeing the pictures grow.

4 Dec, 2010

Thanks Rohima, I did love doing them, and I used to make my childrens clothes too. I haven't crosstitched now for about five years, but I keep thinking I should try again, and perhaps limit myself to half an hour or so at a time

Thank you Sixpence. Actually I do have a magnifying glass, and I have a light that I could angle over the work, so maybe I will have another go at it.

Thanks Littlelegs, the kittens are quite sweet aren't they.

They are beautiful Cinders, you obviously have lots of patience.. I did a bit of crosstich about 10 years ago, to help me stop smoking, you know something to do with your hands, it worked a treat, but like you I find it difficult with the old eyes now, well its old everything now really LOL

8 Dec, 2010

How lovely to see all these again Cinders..I'm glad Junna found them..did you ever start on one again ?I know you said you found it difficult..

28 Jan, 2013

Hi Sandra, I haven't done another large one for a while, but I was given a small one for Christmas, so will be making a start on that when I have been out to get another magnifying glass !! It does make my eyes a bit sore these days, so will have to limit myself timewise.

28 Jan, 2013

I can imagine how hard it is,as I have to enlarge emails sometimes..some have such small writing.and trying to thread a needle is a triumph ! Lol.There is no way I could attempt cross stitch..good luck :o) .

28 Jan, 2013

Forgot about these Cinders lovely to look at them again :-), I've had to resort to a new magnifying glass now too got a great one recently that you hang round your neck and it rests on your chest brilliant !!!!!

29 Jan, 2013

Thats the sort I had before, it was a square one, but unfortunately had a mishap and the frame got broken. So want to get another one like that if I can. Such a help.
