At last, some decent rain, which most of us will be glad to see today.Luckily, we haven’t had any thunderstorms,as yet, only the odd rumble this afternoon.
I decided to take some photo’s of the back garden..Yes,again ! just in case they were flattened ,as some are at their best at the moment,so I hope you don’t find them boring, seeing them again..
..
The first one is for Hywel,of the White Penstemon he kindly sent me, which is the first of three to flower. It is a much daintier one than others I have, but I love it. Thank you Hywel, and I will post photo’s of the other two as soon as they are in flower.:o)
These two pots of Frilly Petunia’s have been wonderful ,especially as they were reduced in price at a Supermarket for £2 for a pack of six. I have had no damage or greenfly etc at all,so I shall definitely have these in future, instead of the single ones :o)
Bidens, overwintered from last year, which was part of a pot arrangement.I thought it deserved centre stage in a pot of it’s own, this year :o)
Nemesia’s have been lovely this year,in pots and a Border..
Finally an overall view, and it’s looking nice and fresh, since the rain stopped, but seems we may have more to come.It will be very welcome for all the shrubs, and to refill the emptyWater Butts..Hope your gardens have had some rain too :o)

It's been very humid all day,Eileen, and still is,so I think it's going to be a hot and sticky night again.I hope we get lots more rain tonight too ..

All looking really lovely and lush Sandra. We’ve only had a threat and a dribble, but very muggy here … I’d love a good downpour - overnight of course!

I’m the same Bloomer. We needed rain in Scotland. I have had to water the garden for months.
Yesterday’s sunshine was a lovely end of the summer tho’.

Thank you Sheila ,Linda and Paul..seems we are all looking forward to some decent rain, but hopefully, followed by more sunshine :o) A happy medium would be ideal .Lol .

Here across the globe we need rain desperately too. It's very dry and our cedars are not happy. Watered as much I could all summer long.
Your plants look lovely Bloomer. I always enjoy to see your "pot garden"

Thank you Klahanie, it's only small, but I try to fill it with colour,in all seasons, plus it's easy care for me to look
after. It has become a bit of a chore, trying to keep it all watered this summer.
I hope you get some soon, and for everyone who desperately need the rain, not just for our gardens and Wildlife, but as a life saver too.x

Your garden is very colourful Sandra, your plants must have enjoyed the rain.
I'm pleased to see the Penstemon flowering. Good luck for the other ones.

Thank you Hywel, I'm delighted with your Penstemon, and looking forward to seeing the other two in flower..They are both planted in the centre of the pots of Petunia's,so a bit slower ,as they are being hidden by the foliage..I don't think I thought that out properly beforehand :o(..The one Amy2 sent me a few years ago,is still going strong,as are it's cuttings, and I bought three more recently, which were half price,so I hope to have a good collection soon :o) x

Maybe you've got the other two Penstemons already Sandra, Amy sent them to me as well :D

Such a mass of colour Bloomer and everything looking at its best. I really like the petunias and must remember them for next year.
The rain certainly was very welcome yesterday and really poured down giving everything a good soak!
Our pots are sadly past their best now but seeing yours has been a treat. Hope they last even longer!

Lol.Hywel maybe so ! I know the one from Amy,is called 'Blueberry Fudge' ,and I have a few of them dotted around..Anyway,it will be more than welcome,if I have another one ..:o) .Watch this space ! x

It rained here yesterday afternoon Sandra, but not for long and then it was so humid it was very uncomfortable last night. It started raining again early this morning and rained steadily until about an hour ago. The garden really welcomed it.
Your garden looks lovely as usual and not a thing out of place. The petunias are particularly pretty. Sadly my pots have all finished :-( Do you replant for spring?
I also have one or two Penstemons, one a gift from Shirley Tulip. They're such good value aren't they?

Lovely to see your plants thriving! 👏 You do a very good job of looking after them! 👏
Around lunch time today we had a pretty heavy shower & a much lighter one around 3.30 this afternoon, why does it always seem to rain just when the schools finish for the day? The same often happened in Spain (just not so frequently as here) when I when to pick up our kids!
While my son & his family were on holiday at the end of August I went to their house to water the plants in the garden. He had many double Petunias just like yours! They do look great - until they get wet when they become a horrible brownish mass, like some roses or other plants that make big blooms with many, many petals.
I only have single Petunias on the balcony railing & they have flowered brilliantly all summer! Even when we had some really heavy showers they continued to flower very well. Now they are probably at the best they have been all summer.😃

Thank you Julia, we had the rain around teatime yesterday, and through the night. It's been a nice warm day ,but not much sun,so no complaints :o) I've loved the Petunias this year, considering they were an impulse buy,on passing by..as you do !
I do replant for spring, usually Winter Violas.some pots have Daffodils under the summer bedding, but I can't remember which ones ..so what's new ? lol All the Bellis Daisies from last winter, were dug up,and waiting in pots, ready to be replanted in the front border againI'm really pleased with them,as they are still flowering, and look healthy :o)
Your penstemons should be hardy too,so let's hope for another mild winter. I haven't lost any of mine over the years .x

Your garden always looks lovely Sandra. You certainly know how to show things off to good advantage! I've never seen a white Penstemon before - isn't it beautiful!
10 Sep, 2021
I agree with you Sue (Steragram) … to my surprise I recently bought one thinking it was a foxglove! I shall attempt cuttings very soon …
11 Sep, 2021
Thank you Balcony, and yes,the double Petunia's do look awful,if you don't deadhead before thy get to the soggy brown stage..yuk ! I have found the odd one underneath the foliage,,which I have missed,so I make sure I give them a good check over each day. Learnt my lesson ! Lol
I still prefer them,as the flowers seem to last longer than the single ones, and don't get as 'leggy' .I have had the latter up till this year though, and yours look beautiful :o)
11 Sep, 2021
Thank you Sue,I'm always shifting pots around ,or moving plants in the garden.Somehow, they always seem to look better somewhere else ! I love the White penstemon too,and it's been exciting waiting for it to flower. With it having daintier flowers,I didn't expect it to be so tall.A nice surprise. :o) I will be adding another photo of it before long, with Carnations either side, just about to flower..
11 Sep, 2021
Enjoy your surprise Penstemon too,Sheila, I shall definitely take cuttings from mine :o)
11 Sep, 2021
Lol Sheila - the Penstemon should last a lot longer than a foxglove, so you've won there!
11 Sep, 2021
Yes, that was a lucky chance … I just wanted something white and reasonably tall lol 🙂.
11 Sep, 2021
Sandra, your garden is looking so colourful, just fabulous! Tell me, do you have to deadhead the Bidens? I think I have a smaller variety of it in the manger baskets on the front wall and am forever deadheading them, blinking job, I detest as they are so small!
11 Sep, 2021
Thank you Shirley.I have been deadheading the Bidens, and yes,it is a fiddly job,but to be honest,I don't mind ! how sad is that ?? :o) x
11 Sep, 2021
Sandra, whatever floats your boat! :o))
12 Sep, 2021
Ha ha,not a lot these days ,Shirley :o) xx
12 Sep, 2021
So funny! :o)))

What a beautiful, vibrant collection of colour, Sandra! It feels like summer is still going strong!
Today, Sunday, has been cooler for the first time in over a week. I do hope we can cling on to finer weather for just a little longer.
12 Sep, 2021
I'm all for it lasting well into Autumn ,Kate ! :o) It's been a very dull day here ,but still warm,so I've spent most of it in the garden, doing mundane jobs mostly, but still enjoyable,to be out there. :o) Thank you for your nice comment, I love lots of colour, whatever the season :o)

Your garden is so colourful Sandra! I love the way you have done it!
We are having rain for the first time today!
We have been in Norfolk on holiday until Saturday and it was so hot! On the last day of our holiday, Rick got sunstroke and he didn't listen to me when I said to wear his hat and sunglasses! Like most men, he thought he knew best!
14 Sep, 2021
Rose, don't "paint everyone with the same brush" 😂 I'm a man & I'm pretty sensible - most of the time anyway! 😂
Been raining here most of the day. It seems to have stopped now but it began around 8am. Although we were in a yellow warning zone the rain wasn't heavy at any point of the day. Now hoping for an "Indian Summer! 😂 😂 😂
14 Sep, 2021
Thank you Rose, it's turned out much better than I expected to be honest ! :o)
We have had some very welcome rain today too,but more of a fine Drizzle, and gloomy grey skies all day,but it's still been warm enough .
So glad you and Rick have enjoyed your Norfolk Holiday, as usual, but sorry to hear Rick got sunstroke.. my goodness,it must have been a scorcher ! Hope he is feeling better, since you got home..xx
14 Sep, 2021
Sorry Balcony! Didn't mean to offend anyone!
He is a lot better now Sandra, thanks!
16 Sep, 2021
Oh,thats good Rose, please pass on our good wishes to Rick.A shame we didn't get to meet up again, but never say never :o) x
16 Sep, 2021
Don't worry, Rose, I'm not offended. Didn't you realise I put laughing faces in my comment?
