Late summer warmth.

By anget

As well as the heat in the garden (we only managed to work until lunchtime today and not at all yesterday) I have noticed how the borders are currently full of lovely soft late summer peaches, oranges and golds.

Crocosmia ‘Harlequin’

Crocosmia ‘Limpopo’

Crocosmia ’Paul’s Best Yellow’

Crocosmia ‘George Davison’

Helenium ‘Kanaria’ Most heleniums struggle here but this a really good ‘doer’.

Helenium ’Sahin’s Early’.

Fuchsia ‘Thalia’.

Hemerocallis ‘Green Flutter’, now more chartreuse yellow than it was earlier.

Hemerocallis ‘Mauna Loa’.

Kniphofia ’Nancy’s Red’.

‘Lark Ascending’

A bleached ‘Arthur Bell’.

‘Lady of Shalott’.

A lovely variegated elderberry ‘Madonna’.
Sorry to have rambled on. This started out as such a horrible week these bright plants are really helping to cheer me up.

Wonderful roses Anget - Lark Ascending is gorgeous. I sometimes think we tend to crocosmias for granted (well I do)- its lovely to see them starring here. The modern varieties are such an advance on the old original.

Thank you all. Glad you like the colours Fern., they're not everyone's favourite shades.

M'land: frustration today because we haven't got on as much as we wanted to. Lots of cutting back and deadheading to do. And digging out..

Stera: I wouldn't be without the crocosmias. We've more to come out, mostly reddish varieties. The 'Lark' is a rose I wouldn't be without. I can't say that about some of the other DA. roses I have... (Is that sacrilege??).

very colourful and certainly in my colour palette. I have a border that is meant to be all reds oranges & yellow. the Jap anemones are pink and I should really remove them.

'Beauty is in the eye' and all that. There's often a colour we feel that's 'missing' Fern, and nearly always there's a colour that 'spoils' our 'vision', SBG.
And often there's colours we don't like at all. In my case, lilacy-pinks.

Thanks, D'lily.

Lovely looking flowers there Anget, love the petals and colour on your mountbatten rose and then I spied the nasty little thorns underneath it. :) :)
