Hever castle...possibly my favourite place in England

After a dull start to the day on Sunday i was getting itchy feet and felt the need to get out of the house. I decided that Hever Castle was going to be my destination.
I love this place, i remember being dragged there as a kid by my parents. I’d be fighting all the way and I have some photos of myself and my sister with miserable faces here. It’s funny how things change as I now bring (not drag) my kids here. They love it for the water maze and boating. I cannot encourage you to visit here enough. There is always a quite corner to be found and just around that quite corner something beautiful or interesting can be found.
It’s good to just wander around and forget about the busy world outside.

When I was tiny my favourite place in the world was Bolton Abbey, Family tale telling relates how I stated happily that ' there is everything a girl could want,'

I suppose there was in a way, it was always sunny when we went, there was a 'beachy' bit next to the river for paddling, stepping stones, a romantic and exciting ruin to explore, and loads of open space to roam about and usually a picnic - bliss.

We lived in Kent for 34 years before we retired here.... I love Hever as well, but Sissinghurst was my 'magical' place.

Plenty of history at Hever, though! I was fascinated by Ann Boleyn's possessions.
