plant sale

Hi everyone, I had been looking forward to our local village plant sale, even booked day off work to go there yesterday, would you believe this though, one of the stall holders had potted up several weeds, she obviously was not a gardener. I didnt have the heart to tell her, but I feel sorry for the people that bought them, I bought a cutting from her, she told me it was called firecracker, think she is mistaken about this too, the plant she sold me has dark red leaves, this does not match the firecracker description on the net. Oh well, think I will stick with the garden centre.

Well, you've got to give her credit for trying eh? lol.

Maybe she likes 'weeds'. They're only weeds if you don't want them after all.

Oh don't be put off by it zamaureen. I actually sell at plant sales & love to go to them, & you can more often than not buy some wonderful things especially rare plants. It's sometimes better to look for one that is held by your county Hardy Plant Society, or another body of people called the N.C.C.P.G. If you google H.P.S. for your area they normally hold monthly meetings, which are marvelous. Good Luck PamD.

You may have been left with a weed but you cheered me up this morning with your blog lol!!!!!!!!!!!!

I sometimes look at plants in my garden and wonder if it's a weed or not - have left a few for several weeks to check before I pull them out.

Little freaked out at the moment as a little spider has abseiled from the ceiling and is now crawling about on my desk.

the east yorkshire HPS has a stall at the Burton Agnes plant fair [Burton Agnes Hall, Burton Agnes near Driffield,] the first weekend in June. always a good day out and lots of interesting plants for sale. grown by the members and often better and stronger than the 'forced ones' brought on for sale at the event.
