Inside the greenhouse, i wish it would get warmer outside, i need to plant these :(

14 new fronds on my TF, yes 14 :)

Fatsia, needing a prune i think..

Pics took a couple o weeks ago when the sun was shining.

My free Rhodi, I was hoping it would be this colour YAY..

Mind your own business loving the rain, these pebbles will soon be covered..

Im really happy with the mirror..

Can’t upload the closeup pics, Goy wont let me!!!

Wow, I really loved all those pics DD..need to make a few comments on them...firstly, I love your red glass lantern! And all your pots are great. I wish my Fatsia would grow like that, it is still struggling to make any growth at all this year...keeps going brown with the cold, as does the fatshedera. It was the same last year, they didn't grow at all until about July... :( I am intrigued to see your tree fern growing so well too....that makes me feel a bit tempted to have a go myself! Especially love the last pic with the hosta and the mirror..oh, and i hope you get your summer annuals out soon.....starting to feel like we will never get any summer at all here...just one long two year never-ending winter...hate it. :( However, the plants are still growing, I've been out and checked, in the rain...and things are still going despite it all! Would be nice to have a glass of wine out there though and get some Vit. D going!! :D

All looking fantastic despite the weather! Hope it improves for you soon :)

Love it, love it, so much colour, shape and form, your TF makes mine look stunted (all of 5 ins tall!!) is that a Sobaria Sem or an Acer in your pot? our Fatsia has just been heavily pruned .
Sorry Karen, gone mad this year, all the rain!! shame you had to cut 3 ft off your lovely Acer, did you have a lovely birthday?

Eeeee Karen i am being Lazy today with the comments, im hungover hahaha. Parts of the fatsia turned black with the late frosts in april, i cut the black leave's off and its went mental ever since. I have a smaller one in the new bed behind the pergola, I just noticed when taking these pics how much it has grown, as DD said with all the rain.
Meant to say, My Siebaldiana is doing great considering the weather, its growing up the pergola, Pic 12, right hand side. Im Excited to see the flowers :) This TF is always late to come out, my other smaller one unfurls in April, I leave the previous year fronds on so im not looking at a bare trunk, i will cut any brown ones off but leave the green ones, I overwinter them in an unheated Greenhouse and they sail through, give one a try, i know gardeners who grow them succesfully in scotland :) 3 year of this weather is taking its toll on me, i said to hub this morning, lets just concrete over the garden, whats the point of having one, the middle of june and i still have annuals to plant out :( Thanks for your lovely comments..

Hi Lil, Thanks a lot X

Hi DD, The pot on the decking? (with the mushroom in it) isnt it gorgeous, its not an acer, ive misplaced the label sorry, it could be in the Ghouse, The one on the other decking with the rhodi is an acer from morrisons last year, it was tiny, its doing great also got a red one doing well, i bought 3 from wilkinsons a few weeks ago 20p each, there potted up and doing well..I love acers :)
Yes I had a great Birthday thanks and £100 in my purse to spend on plants, I want a couple of Colocasia, do you know any suppliers, im desperate lol, the ones on ebay are just plugs, i want bigger than that :)) Thanks for your comments..

wow Ydd - I'm always impressed by your garden, all we need now is some warmth and sunshine.

17 Jun, 2012

soo many colours and textures Ydd....i i love the chairs...:-)

17 Jun, 2012

It all looks fabulous!!!!

17 Jun, 2012

Yes, it does look fabulous, very lush with all this rain. Can I ask, the Alliums - the lot nearest looks slightly redder than the lot further along, which look lilac (first pic, not the ones in the pot). All ours are reddish this year - are the lilac ones new in last autumn, or are they as old as the other clump?

17 Jun, 2012

Thanks homebird, kfunsters, sandra, karen and Bamboo..
Bamboo the are different shades of purple, I bought a box of 24 mixed alliums from wilkinsons last autumn and im amazed and delighted they all came through, the "sparkler" ones are my favourite, and the darkest purple you ask about are pretty spectacular to..

Thanks...

Lovely as ever Dee!, I belong to a UK tropical forum, I could try asking them where to buy Colcasia....love the Aliums btw must get some of them for my new garden!

17 Jun, 2012

Regarding the TF's Dee, I bought one this year and I read that you should fleece the fronds and bubblewrap the pot, is that how you overwinter yours?

17 Jun, 2012

Hi Booboo, thanks for offering to ask about Colacasia, very kind of you :)
I tie the fronds up, then use a fleece bag fastened above the growing point, where the new fronds emerge, then into the unheated greenhouse, but i see you have a warmer climate than me so yours should be ok protected as above and left outside if you dont have a Ghouse..

Fantastic colour and form in your garden all looking fabulous! Lots of lovely plant combinations, have seen your Sem and wlil be out tomorrow moving mine into a more prominent position, well done very impressed;0)

Your garden always reminds me of a sunny day YDD.....love it!!
Super pictures. I love that blue pot with all those colours and textures, great planting.
I've been drawn to those Sorbaria everytime somebody posts a picture - I'm thinking I need one of those :))

Thanks Pansyp Scottish and fuchsia fan, Sorbaria. yes thats it Scottish, I saw it in B&Q a few weeks ago and fell in love with it, i thought it was a fern!
How big is yours Pansyp, do you have it at the back of a border? I love the pinky new growth, gorgeous :)

18 Jun, 2012

Mine is two years old and around 3 foot by 3 foot its in a large pot, just love the coloured foliage ;0)

18 Jun, 2012

Me to PP, Does'e the foliage stay that colour? i wasn't sure if it was just the new growth, Oooh ive been shopping today, got a banana and 4 trailing Heucherella, BOGOF so im very happy :)))

18 Jun, 2012

Dee, we had -17 in Feb, being in the SE doesnt necessarily mean warmer!

18 Jun, 2012

btw Dee, do u not have to cover the trunk? I DO have a greenhouse with heating

18 Jun, 2012

Your garden is so interesting YDD, how could you ever say about concreting it all over, its fabulous.
I saw some pots in B & Q the other day that would look fab in your garden, they were a lighter blue & a lovely shape.

18 Jun, 2012

Booboo i use fleece sacks, put the pots in the sack and tie it just above the top of the trunk, but if your greenhouse is heated they should be ok without the extra protection, they are tougher than we think..
Hi Willinilli, Thankyou so much for your lovely comment, Ive been to B&Q today but didn't see the pots you describe, it is a smaller branch tho, ill look out for them when i go the the bigger one, thankyou..

19 Jun, 2012

Lovely as always Ydd despite the rotten weather, hope you get your coleus out soon, they'll be spectacular:-)

19 Jun, 2012

Despite the horrible weather you`ve got some great planting going on there. Especially love the Sorbaria sorbifolia `Sem`- I`ve got a couple of these one in a pot and one in the garden, both with buds ready to flower.
Your pergola was well worth the wait and the doing its looking fantastic.

Absolutely lovely, Cinders. Love the deep red lamp-thing, the white metal furniture and all the bits and bobs. Also very envious of all the alliums. I usually have a fair few but this year all are blind.0( Is that a sad face?

21 Jun, 2012

Sorry, sorry! Just confused you with Cinderella as her blog is next on my list. Sorry, Daisy D.

21 Jun, 2012

Your garden looks absolutely amazing it is definitely one of my favourites, weather here is not good either so lots of greenery but not so much colour. I have had problems uploading pics but if you resize your pics they will upload:)))

23 Jun, 2012
