Red, in the back garden!

Do any of you have trouble taking pics of red plants? Well, its really annoying as i love red in my back garden borders. In some of my pics the plants look washed out or orangy, or i have to take pics when there in the shade as the sunshine makes them look even paler.
Last week i had (another) mess around with my camera and i tried the, Landscape mode, whics picks out vivid shades of green and blue!! And here are the results..

Remember this, a few weeks ago?

Looking better :) There,s more big flowers on the daliah’s today and a jasmine i planted about 5/6 years ago is flowering :)

Gotchya, so this is the border digger! So innocent looking to :)

Cassie, Foaming lol..
Let me at her..

Sorry if i have doubled up on any pics, its took me an hour to write this blog!

I was going to take pics today as the crocosmia (lucifer) has flowered, also more daliah blooms and strawberries etc but the camera is broke!
I went to take pics of my niece on thursday, it was her prom night, Awwwww.. But the camera wouldn’t switch on, i had charged the battery and cleared the card, so we dont know if its the, Battery, Battery charger or the Camera!!!! I will have to sort it, I wanted to try macro on the red flowers to see if i got better results than previous pics, Ah well, thats life :)))

I found I need new batteries as those rechargable ones dont last that long if you are a gardener snapping away?
I love your garden it has matured/mellowed very well, are you in it everyday?

You have a lovely garden YDD. I also have trouble with reds and pinks. I think Macro does help.
The puss cat, I have three around me, none of them mine, but they think my garden is for them to use. So I have to put pots, sticks, anything, on any spaces, or they will use it. Garlic powder helps too.

I put sticks in the front garden Cinderella and it worked, ill do it in the raised bed as thats where the digging is :)
Yeah Drc, every day, I just love it, im waiting impatiently for the flowers to come lol..

Your garden is amazing YDD, I can see your love of red in the door and the cushions and it works so well with your plants. I hope you get your camera fixed, mine went on holiday and it's sooooo frustrating - bit like having a broken finger!

Sometimes I have found that taking the plant from a distance with the zoom and flash can work, otherwise yes I have the same problem, red seems to be soaked up by the camera, you can still see it in your garden tho - it's really lovely, I've put it on my favourites

Everything looks brilliant to me Youngdaisy. You have no right to complaint about the quality of the pictures. We all of course try to be perfectionist. Unless I need new glasses.

lovely garden. I really like your sitting space. Hope the weather will permit you to sit out a lot more.

All looking lovely and lush, YDD. Know what you mean about frustrating cameras . . . I seem to have to recharge the battery every few minutes, so no hope of an impromptu snap of the wildlife anytime soon!

your garden looks lovely.... i have trouble with taking photos of red flowers annoying isnt it.......

It is white flowers that I have difficulty with, often there is no definition :-(. Rechargeable batteries don't last as long as disposables, but work out much cheaper, so I always have a spare set available and take several sets away on holiday.
Lovely, colourful garden, YDD.

lovey garden and super photos.

did you turn the camera setting so the lens doesnt come out? I thought i had broken my camera as it didnt open and made non of the normal sounds. luckily my girl altered the setting so it opened before i took it to the camera shop.

Brilliant pics of your garden, Ydd, it's looking so lush and healthy. Well done ... : o )))

Your garden looks wonderful Ydd, the colours are certainly very vivid in that camera mode, I must give it a try. I do have trouble with red flowers even in macro mode, there is nearly always a lack of definition. Same with my last camera, I'm told it's a common problem.

I love your garden Dee, so well designed. Your idea of comfy, colourful cushions on the bench is soooo clever.
When I take pics of red flowers they never come out true to colour either. Hope you get your camera working soon.

Love it, the design your choice of plants you should take it up as a profession:)

Your garden looks lovely ydd...a credit too you. If I can comment re the colour red. Personally, I have trouble with purples.
A couple of years ago when I was snorkelling in the coral reef, I got chatting to a photographer bloke, never gave our conversation much thought ever again....until I started taking pics of my flowers.
He told me that the colour red does not show up well when taking pictures under water and that the images have to be doctored when published. Maybe this is something similar. Some of my purples turn out really blue, which I suppose is the camera not picking up some of the red in the spectrum.
Just a thought and I thought I would share it.

Hi everyone, i was on the razzle last night, or should that be drizzle, man, im sick of the rain, hailstone yesterday! On the plus side its sunny and warm today :)
Thankyou for your lovely comments, im overwhelmed, its just great to share our gardens, isnt it? Yesterday i said to hub, come and look at this, he rolled his eyes, and said, what! a couple of months ago i had bought pineapple lily bulbs cheap from B&Q, they were already sprouting in the plastic bag, Im fascinated by them, i mean they really do look like pineapples, there still small but perfect, he reluctantly got up and came to look at them, then said, oh yeah..Thats what i have to put up with lol..So its great to share my garden with you all, and yours with me...
Scottish, purple does'e come out blue on my pics too, my first digital camera was a 5m vivitar, it took great pics, the colours allways came out true! it broke tho..
Thanks for your advice everyone, much appreciated...

Ha ha, Ydd, I think there's a lot of ladies on here with OH's who have no interest in gardening ... I asked Michael if he'd take down one of the bird boxes for me to clean out ... the screws are too tight for me to undo ... you'd think I'd asked for the moon on a stick! Enjoy your warm and sunny day . . . . .

Your garden is so inviting and well laid out, YDD. You sure have an eye for arranging your pots and borders very nicely.

Your wooden bench with lots of cushions looks so comfy...I hope you take time to sit and enjoy your pretty garden! It looks so well tended I'm suspicious you spend all your waking hours keeping it looking so good :) lol

I love your garden Dee and the photos look great. I'll have to try the same. I get trouble taking purple/mauve, they always come out blue, and also yellow comes out flat just like a blob :o( lol
I hope you find out what's wrong with your camera.
