A Week in Littlehampton and Eastbourne

Hi everyone.
We came back yesterday after spending a week away, we travelled down to Littlehampton a week friday to stay with our daughter and son-in-law,we stayed with them until Monday, we had a lazy weekend just walking on the beach, on Sunday we all went to Petworth gardens, what a lovely time we had there, I am including the photos, on Monday we drove to Hollyeves house where she made us very welcome, provided us with lunch and a lovely cup of tea, on leaving she gave me two plants to bring home, of which I will put on later, it was so nice to meet her after all the time we spend chatting on GOY.
From there we drove to Eastbourne until Friday, a lovely hotel on the sea front and our room over looking the sea, we did lots of walking and sitting, we took the open top bus to Beachy Head which we both enjoyed very much, the views were fantastic, we had a full English breakfast each morning and a great meal during the evening, we very rarely visit many places here in the U.K. but I must admit this break made a nice change.I do hope you all enjoy my photos I am putting on,

I'm pleased you had a good time down here in the South, Yorkshire and how lovely to have visited Petworth House & Gardens. Those kitchens are just amazing aren't they? It makes you realise just how much hard work it took to prepare meals back then, a real glimpse of 'Upstairs, Downstairs'. Were there any Deer in the park? Glad you met up with Holly and got to see the beach too. I haven't been to Eastbourne for years, used to live at Hailsham, just north of the town, but I expect it's changed a lot since those days! Love the Pier at night photos, not too sure about the sculptures though! : o )

you probally know the kitchens are built away from the house and the maids had to take all the food under a tunnel to the main house, apparently the lady of the house did not want cooking smells getting into the furniture,no we did not see any deer unfortunately, it was really nice to meet up with Holly, the beach is less than 2 minutes walk from her house, glad you enjoyed the blog Shirley.

Great blog Yorkie. Hope you found your family well. We often take a split holiday like this, like the variety. Went to Petworth last year in the spring but a bit of a walk from car park!! Still there are some good specimen plants on the way. Holly got a great location! Glad you had a good time.
