Thank you to you all who wished me well. I am feeling much better. Isn’t it amazing what antibiotics will do. I sometimes think how horrid it was before them.
As to the suggestions about the mosquito problem, I can only point out that this area has 2 native var. and three that have been acc. introduced. I think I have a insight into the insects as my daughter spent last summer in the lab at the Univ. studying the endocrine system of the mosquito for her junior thesis. Mosquitoes are a blood sucking insect about 1/4 to 1/2 inch long, around here gnats aren’t any bigger then a pinhead and do not bite. Because they are endemic to most of the US, and with the ban on DDT their control is problematic. And because of a sensitivity to their saliva if bitten, I get a bump that itches like the devil. I sometimes wonder how the early settlers in the southern US were able to stand it. But now with air condictioning and bug repellents people can live here with ease, and I guess it all comes down to you get used to your circumstances.
Today my husband is better and returned to work, and his job in a hospital can have some disadvantages, 2 years ago he was exposed to TB and had to do a 9 month drug therapy regulated by the health dept. It is just something you have to be aware of the possibilities involved and take measures (like regular health screening) and function normally. His job also allows us access to the best facilities in the southeast US and does not require that he travel outside of the state very often, (he occ. attends training programs on new equipment and software). Working for a hospital pays better for his profession, he used to work for a large electronics firm, Siemens, and pay is about 1/3 more, plus not so much travel with the hospital. All that and believe it or not he got his training and first job at British International Telephone and Telegraph!
We discussed it a long time but I think we are better off and happier with him working for the Hospital.
