White Bluebell Hunt

I took the dogs for a walk in the woods today & on being greated with a carpet of Bluebells decided to go back to my childhood & hunt for the white one.

Found some roots.

A great tree for a treehouse.

Lily of the valley at the top of a hill !

Primroses

A yellow nettley thing

A secret camp (& Freds bum)

A long path (& Freds fluffy face)

A dog in a tree! (mums std. poodle, Michael)

A little rat in a tree! (sorry Billy, Love you really)

Ah whats that?, there in the middle.

Ta Da! Why is there always only one.

This will now be my Wednesday walk so looking forward to seeing what else pops up.

Billy is my sisters dog & a little s**t, we have a love hate relationship - I love him but he hates me for doing all the nasty jobs like nail cutting, Lol.

3 May, 2012

Lovely walk Willinilli. Fancy finding just one "white" Bluebell. Good to see the Lily Of The Valley too. I haven't found mine in the garden yet, hope I haven't lost it!

3 May, 2012

Entertaining blog ... Michael is handsome :o)

3 May, 2012

Loved the walk Willi, apart from the Bluebells its the trees that facinate me especially when they have lovely doggies posing in there trunks.

3 May, 2012

I do miss having a dog to take with me when i go walking ,it's just not the same with out one

3 May, 2012

Thanks everyone, I hadn't been up there for awhile so it was a nice change, really enjoyed it.

Lincslass there's always a white one somewhere :-)

Bloomer & Pam the dogs run riot where ever they go, what with my 4, mums 2, sisters 2 & sometimes my other sisters 2 boxers, I do hope we dont spoil the walk for others.

Dawn do you know what it is? It was yellow & nettly looking, Lol.

Petal is there more than one then? my nan told me there's only ever one, :-)

And doesn't he know it TT. The squirrel he caught did not think so highly of him! (its ok no harm done to either of them)

I love the trees too Stroller. When I was young I had a black Poodle & he would climb high in the trees he loved it.

Sharnford take your pick, which one do you want, Lol.

3 May, 2012

im going to get my wild flower book out and have a look for you willinilli then i'll tell you what the yellow nettley thing is....hold on
right it might be called Downy Hemp Nettle, the flowers are the same but the leaves a slightly different shape... Actually I think we should stick with Yellow Nettley Thingy Plant:-)) sounds better!

3 May, 2012

Yeah your right Dawn, to hell with the Latin, Lol.

3 May, 2012

i like nettley thingy too. do they sting though??

3 May, 2012

Now I might look stupid Sticki but I didnt want to find out! Lol.

3 May, 2012

cant say i blame you, i HATE nettle stings

3 May, 2012

It doesn't sting! Its a yellow dead nettle, the wild version of the variegated on that's sometimes used in wild gardens as ground cover. Its not in the nettle family - only called that because of what it looks like. Are those lily of the valley actually wild? I didn't know there were any wild ones left - you lucky thing!

3 May, 2012

steragram are you good on wild flowers cos pimpernel has a photo on that none of us can identify [so far!!!]

3 May, 2012

wow what a lovely walk and what great pictures :)

3 May, 2012

Thanks for the info on the yellow nettley thingy Steragram, still dont think I want to touch it, Lol.
Yes there is loads of Lily of the valley up there, should all be out soon :-)

3 May, 2012

A good find. I've never seen a wild white one.
A nice place to go with the dogs :o)

3 May, 2012

You have to look for the white one Hywel, its always there somewhere.
They are lovely woods, one of the highest points in kent. There is a Trig point there.

3 May, 2012

It sounds a lovely place.
I grew up near a bluebell wood. We used to pick many bunches of them :O I'm sorry to say, but in those days people were not so concerned. ..... but I never saw a white one. I'll have to look around for one. I've seen white wild foxgloves. They're pretty too :o)
I must say I never pick wild flowers now.

4 May, 2012

I even have trouble picking the sweetpeas in my garden, I feel so mean picking them in their prime.

4 May, 2012

Don't feel mean,Willinilly, they need to be picked, don't they? they would be finished in no time if you didn't...

4 May, 2012

I know Bloomer, Im just silly. I will pick away this year :-)

4 May, 2012

Where's Pimp's photo then Sandra? Not an expert but will have a look. Go on Willinilli, live dangerously! I dare you.

4 May, 2012

5 May, 2012

We have white bluebells in our garden, I put one on my blog the other day, Willinillie and the nettly thing is Lamium (dead nettle.) What a lovely walk in the woods and it wasn't raining! You've got some lovely dogs, aren't they cute! We don't have anywhere around here for walking, it must be lovely to have this near you.

7 May, 2012

Well we went for a woodland walk yesterday, and sure enough there was just one white bluebell. Also just one pink one. Was also delighted to find wood sorrel and wood anemones for the first time round here - had been missing them since we moved!

13 May, 2012

How lovely,Sue..I bet that was a nice sight...glad you enjoyed your walk..:o)

13 May, 2012

It certainly was Sandra - an all by the side of a lovely brown stream rushing along at top speed - magic.

14 May, 2012

So you found "The White One" Stera & Pink, I will have to look on Wednesday to see if we have any pink ones!
No stream in my woods though, you are lucky.
