Escape to Portugal!

At the beginning of March we spent a week in Portugal to try to get me better!
I have had a very persistent virus for much of the winter and we thought that maybe some warmth and early sunshine would help me!
It really did make a difference and was just what I needed. It was a last minute arrangement but all went very well and we were so lucky to see blue skies day after day.
I love Springtime at home but really needed to escape for a bit!
I do hope that you will enjoy looking at some holiday photos with me and thanks for having me back! I have been away for so long because our computer was also in a bad way but a clever man in Barnstaple has sorted it out!

I know, I know, it could be Cornwall with those lovely Atlantic breakers but the colour of the cliffs is slightly different!

We were a little early for wild flowers in the meadows but we did see some colour when we were out and about even if I had to peep into people’s gardens to find it!

The next picture shows a cork tree.

I shall finish with one or two photos showing local colour from The Algarve. I am so grateful to that holiday for taking away my virus – it is welcome to it!!!

Now I can look forward to Bristish Summertime – can’t I?!

It really does make you think chris...how much healthier we would be if we had more warm sunshine! That looks like medicine for the soul as well as the body. We had a holiday in Portugal once, in July, it was actually a bit chilly (we are famous for bad weather holidays) but I really loved it, and your photo as have got me thinking....hmmm...future late winter holiday destination! March is such a cruel month. Just when you think the worst is over, March hits us with it's freezing winds and bone-biting chills. You certainly did yourselves a power of good getting out of it for a short time. Welcome back...glad PC is fixed! X

Lovely pictures. I prefer to see them on my computer instead of been there myself. I hate hot and sunny weather. It makes me very ill. I come from sunny Cyprus and I am scared of the weather to go there. Very strange to many but true.

Great photos Wildrose they bring back memories of time spent in Alvor and Pra de luz both wonderful places to go so its no wonder you are feeling much better, hope it continues and that we get some decent weather, or is that asking for too much as here in the midlands it has gone very cold.

Chris - what a good idea to take a therapeutic holiday in the Algarve - and it worked! Lovely to see those flowers against such a blue blue sky . . . specially loved that white one (blossom?) (white bougainvillea??).

So glad it's done you good, and welcome back to GoY :)

Sheila it was summer jasmine - I can smell it from here! We missed out on many flowers because it was so early but we were so fortunate with the weather.

We went just beyond Albufeira to a spot called Oura Praia. We were so lucky with the weather and had a really lovely time.

I know Albufeira, but not the particular resort you stayed at. So glad the trip helped you to throw off the bug, now what we need is a good summer here. Fingers crossed.
