A very Happy Easter everyone.

I know; it has felt more like Christmas than Easter but surely it can’t go on for much longer -can it?

We have spent the last 10 days in the north west of the country in Cumbria and Lancashire and have seen quite a lot of snow all around us. Fortunately the roads were clear and ice free so we were able to see lots of beautiful scenery.

However, nearly all our photos have a black and white theme as colour was sadly lacking. The bare trees looked black and the fells were white! All daffodils were still in tight bud and the only flowers seen were snowdrops and a few closed crocuses.

Before seeing a few of our pics, please do have a lovely Easter and hopefully the weather will gradually or better still, speedily improve!

This next photo is included to prove that in spite of freezing temperatures we DID go out for walks SOME of the time!

On the last day in the Lakes, the sun did shine and made such a difference. I shall finish off with blue skies, sunshine and of course SNOW!!

P.S. If the weather lets us down, there’s always chocolate to look forward to!

Yes, just three more days and it will be Easter!! Not that we'd know that from the weather. Glad you had such a good break and thanks for the lovely photos. I've been on holiday to Cumbria a few years ago, stayed a week in Kendal, beautiful place. Your photos reminded me of that happy time:)

So, you're back at last! I shall send a p.m. tomorrow, Chris! I was thinking about you when the forecast was coming on showing all that snow there. I'm pleased you enjoyed it despite the cold! Looking at that wooden walkway, it didn't half remind me of that place when Gail (Coronation Street) was there and he ( can't remember his name) drowned! Did you see that episode! Its quite a while ago!
Lovely photos and I quite like the black and white one! Nice to have you back !

I hope you enjoyed yourselves in spite of the cold, Wlidrose. The pictures are lovely.

Bik - I did not realise that the Orthodox Church celebrated Easter so much later than we do. You should have some proper Spring weather by then, at least.

I have just looked at Ortrhodox Easter dates. It is interesting that the date of May 5 2013 is a late one, whereas Easter for us this year is an early one.

Get you Sheila !! Hope you are having a wonderful time! x

So do I ! Please report back on your escapades when you get home.

We were in Falmouth last week and it was a lovely sunny day. Magnolia trees were already in blossom. I love being down there too.

31 Mar, 2013

Magnolia already? Hope they don't get caught in late frosts Rosie, I hate to see them with brown edged flowers on.

31 Mar, 2013

I agree.....much the same can happen to camelias too and it is a pity to see the damaged petals. The icy wind that is blowing again here tonight would definitely cause damage to them!

When are we going to see an improvement in the weather? Haven't ventured out into the garden since September!!

1 Apr, 2013

I heard on the radio that it will start to warm up half way through April .... only a couple of weeks....I hope everything has come through, at least the snow will all be gone by then:-)

Hope so Ba. am really fed up with the cold now :(

I've been out in the garden today, it was bitterly cold, but well wrapped up. Moved a few things before they grew too much, and dug over, where I want to plant some fence covering plants... don't know what yet.... felt liberated to be out :-))))))

Visited Mum today, and looked around her little garden - first time I'd really looked in weeks - her lovely camellia is covered with blooms all like brown paper. So sad!

Thanks Grandmage - only just got back on to the site. Now in airport waiting for the last flight, but yes thanks, it has been a wonderful trip.
Thanks Wildrose, I will attempt a blog when I'm over the jetlag! X
