The Garden Community for Garden Lovers

And finally....some progress :)

It’s been a long wait…but the garden re-vamp is within reach. We’ve had a phone call from the garden lady this morning to say they will be here either Tuesday or Wednesday to do the garden.

This has been a dream for so long….and now the reality is just around the corner….I am so pleased.

I will be sure to take photos as the work progresses. They estimate 2 days to complete the work which seems quite quick to us but I suppose with all their experience they can work quickly and efficiently. Now just have to hope the rain holds off next week…it’s been raining here lightly off and on most of the afternoon :(

The photo (below) is of my tulips when they were in bloom. Of course they are all finished now but they did keep in bloom for around 3 weeks which I was very pleased about.

I’ve also received 2 clematis (gifted from our garden lady)…still in their pots but will be planted in the garden next week along the metal fencing at the rear of the garden.

I can’t identify the second clematis as it is without a label…I’m hoping it will bloom soon (it has what appears to be some buds forming so I’ll have to be patient and see what it is)..

And here’s a piccie of Lucy in one of her favourite specs…surveying her kingdom from our lounge window!

Do hope it all goes well for you Whistonlass, so looking forward to seeing your garden as I am sure you are. Hope the rain keeps off until they have finished for you, then it can rain and water it all in for you.

Me too jacquie, can't wait to see the pictures, so exciting for you and just in time for summer, I have a pot of catmint here just for Lucy, will send as soon as the work is finished;0)

At last, Jacquie, I am so glad for you - you must be so excited. Then you'll just have the best bit, i.e. sorting out plants to set in - that's the best bit isn't it ?

I do hope everything goes Ok and I'll have my fingers crossed that it does ! How nice that it will be done so quickly - just think - by this time next week your garden should be all sorted out. How good is that ?

Oh...I am so glad so many share my excitement :) Thank you Bloomer, Cristina, Marie, PP and Olive Oil for your nice comments. And yes, Bloomer, my garden lady will likely know the name of the clematis. Apparently when she receives her plant orders from the nursery there are often "freebies" included....and this clematis was one but unlabelled.

PP....catmint for our Lucy....thank you :) I think she will like it as there is catnip in her little dangly mouse on her scratching post and she bats it around like crazy! lol

I'm pleased for you. Glad it is all happening soon. I don't suppose a bit of rain will stop them. Then you can get on with the growing. Looking forward to the pictures.

Only another 3 or 4 days to wait ... you must be so looking forward to having the plants in place ... get your camera battery charged up ready for lots of photos to be shared on here! Lucy seems to have settled in so well ... bless her. : o )

it will be worth the wait in the end, is lucy project manager?

Lovely to read all of your comments....the day is fast approaching :) I am getting a bit tense about it all now... my expectations are pretty high.

Ann...I think Lucy will be in hiding while the workmen are here...she is not well-pleased when there is activity or visitors around and gets very unsettled. And she lets us know too....hides away for hours after things have gone all quiet and then slinks around expecting an encounter of the scary kind! And she will get finnicky with her food too!

So she'll be "managing" us I reckon...lol

Shirley, I will be sure to take photos...just hoping the rain subsides before they commence the work.

We still have no rain . . .

Just a few more days to go - it must be so exciting but I can understand you being a bit nervous too. I'm sure it will all go according to plan. The two clematis look very healthy and will romp away. Looking forward to the photos when it is all done. Good luck - enjoy :)

I'm glad to see Lucy settled in now. She is enjoying her new home :)
It will be a relief for you to have the garden done and you'll be able to enjoy it for the summer now. How kind of the lady to give you those 2 clematises :)
I'm looking forward to seeing your photos next week. but the rate I'm going at it will be next month before I see them lol I am very slow.

No worries, Hywel....the blogs/photos aren't going anywhere...I think we are all having difficulty keeping up with GoY these days.

Yes, I feel very fortunate to have found my garden lady... she is very generous in practical ways and in sharing her expertise.

16 May, 2011

Well it must be done by now - looking forward to seeing the pics. You commented on my blog that our Herbie looks like Lucy - I see what you mean, they make a matching pair!

Steragram....you'll have to read my subsequent blog :( The garden is having to wait until 31st May to get started.

I am disappointed at this further delay but I do promise when it all gets underway I'll post blogs/photos.

As I type this it is very late (2.47am!!) and Lucy is asleep on the footstool at my feet. I think it is time I got off to my bed...lol So you did notice the resemblance Lucy has to Herbie...:)
