Some pictures of LUCY

As I mentioned in a previous blog, we have a new family member….Lucy. She has been with us now for 2 weeks and it feels like she’s been here forever. We adopted her from the Cats’ Protection League. At the moment we have been told to keep her inside (for the 1st month) until she is fully acclimatised and I can’t wait to have her tagging along with me as I potter about in the garden.

So…here’s the lady herself…

Up on the back of my lazyboy chair (she’s not happy to be up there really….she prefers to lay right on top of my laptop keyboard!!)… “Queen of all she surveys”…

Another favourite spec she has decided suits her in the last couple of days (so nice to see her settling in and being relaxed)…

Hubby has been out this morning and bought her some more pouches of the Felix jellied food. We’re trying to introduce the tinned variety but she’s protesting. We will now slowly introduce the tinned variety into the pouch food until we can outfox her and hopefully have her happy with the tins! hmmmm…watch this space.

Anyhow…Lucy is definitely a keeper. She was even brave yesterday and sat on my friend, Daisyco’s knee and let her stroke her…all looking good :)

Thank you Olive and Pam....she's definitely settled in and got her feet under the table.

I've rediscovered how therapeutic it is to have another kitty in the home too :)

Lucy is lovely... and has made herself quite at home with you...........

Hi Jacquie - Lucy looks right at home now - I know how hard it is to get cats to eat tinned cat food sometimes. Our cat Molly hates it and always leaves it so we've given up with the normal tinned cat food (Whiskas etc), and buy her a cheap chicken each week which actually works out cheaper than a week's supply of catfood. She also has biscuits and sometimes a cheap turkey leg from Asda. We try to vary her diet a bit because it must be boring to have the same thing all the time. This week as well as the chicken we have bought her some hairball IAMS as a supplement and some Sheba food so she has a variety every day. Mind you she also likes rice pudding and ice cream, both of which she goes mad for. We also give her odd bits of meat that we have - she doesn't like fish much except for smoked salmon and if we ever have this I have to make sure to leave her a small bit.

We wouldn't change her for anything though and I think if you're going to have a cat or any pet you have to look after them the best you can don't you.

Enjoy your time with Lucy - they are such a comfort aren't they ?

By the way I know what you mean about carpets - at least 3 of my carpets have been scratched away near the doors due to cats trying to get into a room when the doors shut.

Well, how's that for a contented cat? She's lovely, Jacquie, and I see she does have some black on her front leg after all! We feed Megan the cat food from pouches, cans are too heavy to carry and need to be re-cycled. She also has 'Crunchy Munchies' as we call them ... they're invaluable for getting her in at night ... just shake the box by the back door ... voila ... one cat comes running across the lawn... works every time ... lol!

Lovely photographs Whiston, like the one of her sitting on the back of your chair, my Tipsy sits in that position every night whilst I watch tv or use my laptop, daughters white cat Harry is usually next to me on the chairarm but Caspar likes either a bed or the radiator shelf in the kitchen...
It will be lovely to have Lucy for company when you are in the garden, I chat to my cats and dogs all the time when we are outside, mind you sometimes its a telling off when they are being naughty,lol..
Our house also has damaged carpets near the bedroom doors, one of the joys of keeping cats....

I am amazed how settled and comfortable Lucy seems after just two weeks, she certainly knows where she's well off, bless her. Good luck with the feeding regime :)

She looks so settled, i use the tin food as it works out alot cheaper than the pouches, as i have two cats to feed.

She is totally gorgeous J, and has obviously learned very quickly how to rule a household!!!
Your poor laptop, how is your son in law at removing hairballs from a CD writer?

29 Mar, 2011

at least there is no mouse for lucy to catch!!

29 Mar, 2011

I hope there are no hairballs collecting on my laptop! She wasn't very pleased with me last night because I wanted to trim her nails (they are very pointed and sharp). I managed to do one paw and then she scarpered.

Tonight she is sleeping on the raised footstool of my lazyboy so I can use my laptop.

No sign of any mice as yet, Sticki...hope we don't see any in the future either.

29 Mar, 2011

no mouse on the computer either?

29 Mar, 2011

Oh heck...you caught me out there, Sticki...lol I didn't twig at your comment.

I agree, Ann...she is lovely :) Right now she is trying her best to stop me from using this laptop and she is kneading my leg and purring like crazy. Awww...

It's nice to see Lucy settling in and enjoying herself at last :) I hope she does eat the tin food for you but I have my doubts. Cats will only do what they want.
Blodyn will only eat Felix Supermeat pouches. She'd rather starve than eat anything else. It's a waste of money, so I give her what she likes. But then I'm fussy too so I can say nothing lol

30 Mar, 2011

Well Hywel, we shall see how it goes. OH mixed the two together this morning (but only about a tsp. of the food was from the can!)....she's eaten it all but it's early days.

I agree cats will only do what they want! So right there :)

Lucy look's so content and comfy you have made her happy. My two love Aldi packet cat food and kit-e -kat tin's I also give them cat biscuit's, and Whiska's always has to check out the bird scrap's (she wouldn't eat dry bread if I put it her plate though) :-)

Yes, she has well and truly settled in, Mavis :) I was a bit anxious about using the hoover today (I've held off for 2 weeks since we got Lucy....shock, horror...you can believe it really needed hoovering after that length of time!). Lucy was fine...I started as far away from the lounge (where Lucy was resting) as I could and worked my way up the stairs & landing until I was in the hallway and outside the lounge.

Once I started in the lounge she did saunter into the hallway and sat watching from a distance. I was really pleased she didn't become agitated with the sound of the hoover...so I've no excuse now....regular hoovering will resume! lol

A lovely blog,so glad she has settled in well ...she is so pretty bless her

30 Mar, 2011

lovely photos jacquie, lucy looks so at home with you, im so glad, casper only eats the sachets not tins, i try but wont have it and likes the shredded meat rather than chunks, pure laziness i think, cant be bothered to chew lol,
casper says meow to lucy :o)

1 Apr, 2011

If it were up to me I'd just give her the pouches too, San but unfortunately Alec is wanting to persevere with the mixed in tin food. Secretly...I think Lucy will win this round! lol

And Lucy says "meow" back (kitty talk for "I've been playing with my catmint toy and scratching at my post today....a new discovery since it's been brought into the lounge")...

1 Apr, 2011

lol jacquie, made me laugh, casper has scratch posta nd scratch rug, uses them but still wants to scratch my leather sofa grrrr, but i can cope with it more than baz , baz just oin so better get something to eat, enjoy your evening jacquie ;o)

What a contented cat, good luck with the food, they know what they like, and would rather go without than give in, I know we have been there lol

2 Apr, 2011

Lucy is in hiding tonight...the grandkids have been roaring around our flat today and I reckon she's a bit unsettled. I hope she makes an appearance tonight before bedtime or I'll be wondering all night if she is ok.

She's taken to sleeping with us on the bottom of the bed the last two nights too :)

Looks like she's doing well & is settled in!
