The Meeting of the Clans !!

Well I met David and his 2 lively children this afternoon , its a shame the weather was so cold and windy , didnt get out into the garden , though that didnt stop the children
they had a great time kicking around the dogs ball and rolling in the muddy grass . David brought me a beautiful bunch of flowers , what a Gentleman
It was really nice to meet them , what a lovely man you are David , thank for taking the time out of your busy life to come over to see me , much appreciated .

I'm about to blog my own version, Spritz!

The spirit of GOY is certainly alive and well in Scotland but to be fair there's nothing us Scots like better than guid patter. Keep it up and glad to see you had a good time

What - no mention of GoY? Shame on you both! I really feel left out of this - I shall be on the next train to Fife! AAAAh! An idea - shall we all come and have a GoY day out? You'll have the kettle on, won't you!

23 Feb, 2008

As you can see from the pics (and my blog) Spritz, we wore our GOY shirts - as opposed to clan tartan, lol! And....the kettle is always on, as they say! Buzzbee, I have just been thinking 'bout the possibility of a GOY summer barbie!! You should be the CE of the tourist board, in my opinion! Even I have to search hard for info on places here. Watch this space, as they say!
I have been really enjoying getting out there, visiting gardens and like-minded folks. The GrowsonYou Scottish Barbie has just been put onto my diary. Preferred dates, please!

The first great gathering of GOY in Scotland ....and why not , bring it on !!

24 Feb, 2008

What a gent David is. Really pleased you had a good time. Who would have thought GoY would be facilitating "real life" meet-ups so soon? Maybe that first GoY wedding is just around the corner :)

25 Feb, 2008

PS. wasn't implying that you two would get married. Just thought I would clear that up. Am I just digging myself a deeper hole?

PPS. I will get the train up from London to attend the great gathering.

Id love 2 return so QUICKLY 2 SCOTLAND David 4 the GOY get2gether ; ) Maybe we could all visit that HOLY ISLAND in the SUMMER with you?

25 Feb, 2008

Let me know, Jacque, when you're going. I'll treat you and hubby to some of the famous Lindisfarne mead (brewed from the original medieval abbey recipe (stay nearby, coz you'll need a taxi home, lol!) Remember, at Holy Island, you are not in Scotland! (I don't want you stirring a rebellion). My wife, Shona, doesn't touch the stuff, but I'll need to be able to navigate her back north). You can phone about the tide times, probably can do so online now.

Ajay! What is this "fixation" with GOY weddings all about? Most of us have done that (once is enough, lol!)

Meantime, there are plans afoot for us to spend part of the school Easter hols( 29/3 - 13/4 here) in the Royal Borough of Kensington. Part of the deal is for me to transform a roof terrace into a trendy outdoor space (waste of money, if you ask me, coz all previous garden projects for my brother-in-law have died due to lack of care) but I love spending his money, lol! However, he is more often at home nowadays, and I would welcome any real ideas for a low maintenance, London, rooftop green space. Also, if there is anyone within a 50-mile radius of Kensington, how about a meet 4 a drinky-poo? or 2? I'm getting some time off, lol!

:)
got 2 save some pennys 4 our return David but we`l hold you2 the LINDISFARNE RECIPE Mmmmmmmm sounds yummi,Its not HAGGIS is it:(

26 Feb, 2008

Mead is a centuries-old very alcoholic drink based on honey, sugar, water and yeast (hence the taxi home bit). It was regarded as good for fertility (we'll interpret this in a gardening sense), and as an,well, something else. Idea! Keep rejoining the line outside the St Aidan Winery on Holy Island for the free tasting, then fall over a wall into a magical garden - preferably that belonging to the abbey rather than someone's private one, lol! Of course, cameras will be at the ready to capture the beautiful blooms at just the right moment! And there won't be a haggis in sight, as you'll still be south of the border! 2 websites 4u; www.lindisfarne-mead.co.uk, and www.northumberlandlife.org/holy-island/Page2.asp (the
latter gives the safe tide crossing times for 2008). Best Wishes from all of us.

Ajay, have studied my crystal ball - well, actually, my plasma screen. I see some outcome in that of which you speak! I see a - a - a.........damn, it's just shut down - , on a very dark, stormy, Scottish winter's night (like the witches in "Macbeth")

27 Feb, 2008

David the fertility bit you mention is where we get the word HONEYmoon from. The new father in law used to feed his son in law mead before the wedding night!!
We had pizza before our wedding night!!

27 Feb, 2008

Calm ursel David he was making a speach at the first Scottish GOY BBQ

27 Feb, 2008

O, Weemamabell, is that it? Right! Maple, I read about this honeymoon thing, too. You did better than me, having pizza. I was so busy running about delivering flowers, the cake, the music, etc that I forgot to eat or drink anything!

Haha, Lyd. Sorry but, for reasons I'll explain soon, the GOY "Haggis" BBQ has had to be postponed meantime. How about December? The weather may be better then!
